#StandWithElon

Elon Musk wants to re-open his Tesla factory. Some County Official fuck head says "No." Expect this to happen whenever MLB or the NFL decides to reopen. Some low level health or county official is going to hold a billion dollar asset hostage.

Texas welcomes Elon.

(Reuters) - Tesla Inc (TSLA.O) Chief Executive Elon Musk on Monday said production was resuming at the automaker’s sole U.S. vehicle factory, in California, defying an order to stay closed and saying if anyone had to be arrested it should be him.

The move comes as states and cities around the United States experiment with ways to safely reopen their economies after the coronavirus outbreak shuttered businesses and forced tens of millions of Americans out of work.

Musk over the weekend threatened to leave California for Texas or Nevada over his factory’s closure. His move has highlighted the competition for jobs and ignited a rush to woo the billionaire executive by states that have reopened their economies more quickly in response to encouragement from U.S. President Donald Trump.

In an email on Monday, Tesla referred to an order on Thursday by California’s governor allowing manufacturers to resume operations and said that as of Sunday, previously furloughed employees were back to their regular employment status.

“We’re happy to get back to work and have implemented very detailed plans to help you keep safe as you return,” according to the email seen by Reuters and titled “Furlough Has Ended And We Are Back To Work in Production!”
I hope Elon moves his factory to Texas - we like brave men who stand up to government bullies!

Gov gruesome won't care a bit - he understands not that productive citrizens pay the taxes that funds the Socialist state of kalifornia budget - He sees it all as just "kalifornia's money"/
I hope Musk pulls out - and as much business as can flees the confiscatory socialist states of ny and kalifornia.

let them see what happens when their prized illegal aliens are all that is left in their economy - and they demand to be paid!!!
This is going to be verrrrrrrrrry interesting.

elon is a cash poor billionaire

i guess that means he's a billionaire on paper

"on paper" is funny verbiage

guess it means "in theory instead of in practice"?

i wonder our money stating "in God we trust" is likewise, "on paper", which then has a dual meaning

Nixon took us off the hard currency standard, and with the Arab oil embargo caused major inflation in the US dollar value.

To this day it is indeed based on the value of confidence only,To my understanding.

I always thought one of the funniest things that happened during the era occurred when Nixon Treasury Secretary John Connally met with a few effete European finance ministers who whined about what had just been done. (For non-Texans and others who may be too young to remember, Connally was the Texas gov who was wounded while riding in the limo with JFK on that fateful day in Dallas.)

He basically told the Europeans to go fuck themselves. (Actually, what he said was that the dollar "may be our currency, but it's your problem.") That's tellin' 'em, big John!

Regarding Musk and Tesla:

To be sure, Musk is nothing if not an unpredictable and truly bizarre character.

And he does have a sense of humor. When they came out with the dual-motor P100D a couple of years ago that offered something called "ludicrous mode," they actually included a dashboard menu with two choices:

1) Bring it On!
2) I want My Mommy!

Yes, seriously.

In "ludicrous mode," acceleration from a standing start is nothing less than freakish, and could literally be described as violent. You almost feel like you've been shot out of a cannon. If you're not seated and strapped in properly, it can hurt you!

Had a Zoom conference earlier with a couple of real estate partners, one of whom told of a group that owns quite a few hundred acres of prime industrial land in southern Dallas County which many feel would be ideal for the project. It would make great sense for Musk as well as for all his employees, since Texas does does not have a state income tax. Not only is California's income tax rate 13.3%, that top rate slams workers earning very modest salaries.

But Musk is also said to like Nevada, which is another of the few states that impose no income tax. So we will see.

The "paper billionaire" point just opens the opportunity to shit on the president for being the same. I was listening to the SCOTUS case of his keeping his finances from seeing the light of day. He's not even a paper billionaire because he's still "under audit". So he can't show us. Such a weasel.

Quite right.
