Perfume suggestions?

If she's indicated a desire, or I'm in the mood, and I want to give a lady friend a bottle of smellgoodstuff, if she hasn't expressed a preference, what would be good?

The primary criterion, aside from her enjoying it, is bang-for-the-buck, so to speak. I simultaneously don't want to be a cheapskate (I still haven't got that new job, and I'm still not sure if my most recent paycheck was my last) but do want to make a favorable impression, so I'm hoping that there are some nice fragrances that come in small quantities

Ideas?

My SO is a label whore and loves flaunting everything but can't stand most true (expensive) perfumes.
What she does love (lucky sort of for me) are the various Victoria Secret body sprays. Some are not bad, others she likes hurt my nose but they fade fast so it works out.
When I need stuffer or gift fluff I usually grab 5 or 6 different colors and call it done.
They are cheap and most of the time they have some sort of special going so...

Note: i lost the drive to sample smell them so sometimes I have to endure a less than pleasant one for a spell but find most of the lite colors are cool.

Not sure how other females feel about them but thought I would throw it out there.
how bout nothing but ice water for us newbies? please... striving for oderless these days n nights....on many fronts for many reasons...the rest just makes my headache worse.

Don't know what your price range is but Sephora has Chanel Chance for a good price. The price range is 45-85 depending on the volume that you want.

Bath & Body Works is a good option..... Body washes are like leaving a hint, so stick to body sprays....especially glitter ones. The SO and the ex love them. Twilight Woods is one of them.

Many scents to choose from, and Christmas or Holiday sales have probably started.

I am obsessed with the creed line,(runs about $300 at least where I got mine in miami.) I'm working on getting the whole collection. Dolce and gabana light blue is my close 2nd
Perfumes are difficult to buy for a lady, since WALDT .

I would suggest going to CVS, and by the perfume case, there is usually a small display with mini-bottles of perfume in a variety of choices. Pick out several, and maybe she will find a new fragrance that she had not tried before! Put 'em in a pretty bag with a card and she will love it, just because you took the time to think of her..no matter how small the bottles are. Although, I am just a sucker for thoughtfulness, not necessarily how much was spent..

OR, go to said perfume case at CVS (it's just less expensive than the department stores...I used to peddle perfume for Macy's), buy a couple of the shower gels/body washes that every expensive brand carries. It's less expensive, you can buy a few and see what she likes.

I prefer the shower gels/washes, because the scent lasts a LONG time but it is much softer, IMO. Miss Dior Cherie has always been my favorite, as it is very light and slightly floral, but I can't always spring for over $100/bottle sometimes. I have bills to pay, too!

Nordstrom Rack (outlet store for Nordstrom's) has a good selection of very expensive perfumes at up to half price of the retail cost. That's where I get my expensive fix, for a fraction of the price. And no annoying perfume sales ladies!

If you go sniffing, bring a small bag of coffee grounds. Take a whiff between scent-smelling. it cleanses the nasal palate.

Good luck!!

What's the ubiquitous one that all strippers seem to wear -- I call it Eau d'Ho?
Dunno 'bout strippers, that's all that obnoxious citrusy shit

But...Shalimar...just a little is a lot and it's exotic as...well, Shalimar. Once you know, you know.
Chanel #5 . . . yeah, its expensive, but so is a 67 L88 Vette and they are BOTH classics for a very good reason!

It only takes a "tiny" little bit to do its job so while it is expensive, it lasts a loooooooooong time.

The merest wiff of it gets my motor running
