Schooling a Bully in the Hobby.

All,
A well known local lady had a very interesting encounter recently in which a hobbiest tried to short her on her tribute. She asked me to post her narrative of the encounter so all could be aware.

It could go in Alerts, but I think that it is more of a discussion item than an Alert.

I think it is one funny ass story!!!!

I got the call in the evening. He sounded nice, a yuppy. He told me that he lived in an apartment near the Continental. Cool, he's a chill
SoCo hippy. Yuppy, a hippy with a job, perfect. Work references seemed
solid though I didn't cross reference because it was too late to check
and he wanted a visitor TONIGHT. How did I fall for that old trick?
High pressure means beware. The Universe had clearly had enough of
this prick so who else could be sent to school this weinie? A little
more chat, I feel good, I'm on my way. Chat in the car, nothing out of
the ordinary. He meets me outside and walks me in. Nice place, surely
he acquired his nice furnishings with good credit, looks solid, I'm
all in I got the call in the evening. He sounded nice, a yuppy. He told me
. We have a great session, I mean, I stayed over because it was
so good. We finish and then the reason for this thread begins.

He acted like he'd fallen asleep. “Honey, I've got to fly, where did
you put my gas money?”

“You're leaving?”

“Of course I'm leaving, I have a lot of things to do tomorrow and I
need to get some rest.”
“Stay.”
“Can't stay, gotta go, gas money?”
“How's a hundred?”
“What do you mean?” trying to look confused, feeling that "here comes
bullshit" alarm start wailing in my head.
“Will a hundred do it?”
“You mean, a hundred dollars?”
“Well, that's all I got.”
“What do you mean, 'that's all you got?'. You saw my website, it's on
there, you are way off.
“Well, how much more?”
“(amount stated)”
“I don't have it, I'm sorry, I just don't. but you had a good time
too, right? Can you just make an exception?”
“Why would having a good time change our agreement? I have a good time
with most of my suitors. My having a good time doesn't have anything
to do with the size of the gift. You knew my tribute before you called
me and this isn't it. Why are we having this problem right now?”
getting frustrated, trying to remain calm and figure out my next
move.
“Consider it a pay it forward from a repeat client.”
“That's really arrogant of you to think I would want a client that
rips me off. You won't be seeing me again. I am not going to be
bullied into a different arrangement than agreed just because you
think I have no power”
“Well, I don't know what to tell you. I don't have it.”
“Just write me a check.. I have a 'no check policy' but you've left me
no choice so I'll leave if you write a check for the rest”
“I'm not going to write you a check!”
“Why not? Just write the check and I'll be gone,”
“I'm NOT going to write you a check.”
“Then what are you going to do? I can't let you steal from me. This is
a business and you don't have the authority to change our agreement
after we have had the session.”
“There's nothing I can do. I'm really sorry I really am, I didn't mean
to upset you.”
“What can you give me of value to hold until you pay me the balance.”
“Like what?”
“something of value that you'll want back.”
“I have these golf balls. They are worth 60-70 bucks.”
“I don't play golf and I can't resell them for 60-70 bucks, plus its
still not going to add up to what you owe me. I'll never hear from you
again if I accept those stupid balls. Give me your drivers license.
Don't treat me like I'm stupid just because I sell my ass to
strangers. I make as much money per hour as most lawyers and by the
looks of this place and your B.S., my income puts yours to shame. And
yet you profile me to be a gullible pushover hooker with no balls to
stand up to time-wasters and theives like you. Wrong gal, buddy, you
got me this time and I'M NOT LEAVING WITHOUT THE FULL TRIBUTE OR EQUAL
COLLATERAL so come on, quit wasting time and just do the right thing,
okay?"
“I'm not going to give you my DL. Look, I didn't mean to do this, I
just didn't look at your website and you didn't mention the rates when
I called.”
“So now this is my fault?”
“Well, I figured you'd mention it?”
“I shouldn't have to. I posted the rates in the same place you found
me. Or I at least left map, known as a 'link' to my site where my
tributes are listed."
“I just didn't think about it.”
“So you are saying that:
-you called me up, invited me over, knew that this was P4P,
-didn't look to see what my asking tribute is,
-only had $ to give me no matter what my tribute read, THEN
-you insult my intelligence by thinking that I'll believe that you
just didn't consider what a provider might cost,
-THEN, you try to bully me into accepting a lower tribute just because
you say you don't have the rest?
-And to top it all off, you pass the blame for this misunderstanding
on to me by stating that I should have talked about it with you on the
phone.
Here's my problem. You have no idea how sick I am of bullies like you
who think I am too weak or too dumb to defend myself. You can't just
do what you want to do around here (he's from New york, a Foreigner.
Why are northerners so mean? I'm not prejudice, I'm simply profiling
from past experiences.) It's just too bad for you that I made a
promise to myself to not get fucked after I get fucked, so to speak. I
don't scare easily. I am not leaving this apartment until we have
settled this. I know, how about I take this $ and that mirror, and
I'll get outta here. I'll be happy with the mirror.”
“You can't have the mirror”
Picking up the floor mirror I had been watching myself in during the session. mirror and carrying it to the
door. “Come on, you can replace it before the girlfriend comes home.”
“You can't have the mirror.”
(Setting mirror down in foyer) “Look, write a check or give me the mirror but I'm not going to let you steal
from me.”
“Steal?”
“Yeah, steal! You are stealing from my business by refusing payment in
full after services were rendered. That's stealing and it's wrong and
illegal. You don't order a book from Amazon, they ship it, and then
you find out what you owe. You don't finance a car, drive it home, and
then find out what the payments will be. You don't eat at a five star
restaurant and then try to haggle the bill with the piss poor defense
of "I just didn't think to look and I only have a twenty on me, uh,
sorry. Oh, and no, you can't have a check either."
But you want me to believe that should be acceptable here. You don't
fill your gas tank and then find out how much a gallon of gas is going
to cost you.
In no other business industry is what you are doing acceptable which
means that in no way what you are doing is acceptable in the hobby
either. You can't steal from me, insult my intelligence, try to bully
me around, and then deflect the blame on to me because I didn't bring
up the money over the phone. If you wanted to spend one hundred, you
could have found a warm hole walking the street on East 12th. But you
didn't, you called me, a quality provider, and I got out of bed and
left my family to hang out with you so that I could provide you with a
grade A experience.
I don't have a "You don't get a quote by phone or the pizza's free,"
sale. The rates were stated clearly in English on my idiot proof
website. You are just a bully and I'm either taking this mirror or
you are writing a check. Which will it be.”
“I don't have my checkbook anyway, I can't write a check.”
“Don't make me do what neither one of us wants me to do.”
“What is that?”

"I'm warning you buddy, make this right. I don't have a big black
pimp outside but what I do have is going to be a lot worse for you.
I've never had to do this but I will not allow you to do this to girls
anymore. You have pulled this before, I can tell by your confidence
that I will just give up and leave, but you got me instead of some
mousy newbie and I've already dealt with you and I WON'T LET YOU STEAL
FROM ME OR ANY OTHER GIRL EVER AGAIN! I'm about to school you in how
we do it down here in the Lone Star State.(did I mention that he is from New York?)

"What are you going to do", still cocky but becoming a little more cautious.
“I'll be forced to call the Travis County Sherriff dept and report a
theft of service.”
rolls his eyes
“Please tell me you didn't just roll your eyes at me. You rolled your
eyes. Did you really just ROLL YOUR theiving eyes at me? Here we go.
Thanks a lot buddy. I am really going to hate you for this.

DIAL: 9-1-1 very deliberately on my hobby phone making sure he saw
every number pressed firmly.

“911, whats your emergency.” he can hear the muffled ladies voice
talking in my ear in the quiet bedroom.

"I'd like to report a theft please."
“Theft of what, ma'am?”
”A theft of services, I'm an escort and I'm at the clients apartment.
He is refusing to pay.”
“Address please?”
“I'm at the state house apartments on south congress.”
“Do you have a physical address ma'am?”
“Let me look, hang on a second,”

Turn to client, “are you really going to make me do this or are you so
dumb that you forgot the snow white you tried to offer me. Shall I
tell them the address or are we going to be cool?”

Deer in the headlights expression.

“Hi, thanks. I'll need to call you back with that address.”
“Yes, ma'am.”

“So, what are we doing little boy?”
“I think my checkbook is in my car.”
“I'll wait here by the mirror.”
“Come with me,”
“No thank you, I'm fine here.”
“I would rather you came with me.”
“It's not up to you.”
“My car is just out side.”
“I'm not going to leave the apartment and then you screw me. Once I'm
out the door, you are home free. It's just not going to happen. This
may work with other girls but I just can't allow you to bully me
around. I won't allow it. It's insane that you thought you could get
away with this. This is clearly not your first rodeo, but I think you
may think twice next time”
“I don't really want you in my apartment alone.”
Pointing at his nose and hissing, "Look dude. I didn't put me in this
fucked-up situation. You put me in this fucked up situation. I don't
care to be here another second but I refuse to leave until this is
right. You will have to just go get your checkbook and I'll wait in
here. You will have to physically remove me from this apartment and
you already know what will happen. So go get your goddamn checkbook
and make this right”
“Fine, wait here.”

So, do I collect upfront or hope for the best? Even after this guy,
I'll not be changing my policy. In three years, this has only happened
maybe five times. That equals Five hours of session. I figure, if even
just one potential regular suitor is turned off by the “money first”
requirement, I've lost more than that of which I was protecting.

But, beware of guys like this and keep this handy and effective little
bullet in your back pocket. To review, it goes:

“Hi there, I'd like to report a theft of services please.”

It's not illegal to be an escort so don't think you are powerless
because you don't believe the law is behind you. The law is in place
to protect us so it okay to use the law when it's appropriate.

And last but not least. Being a provider does not mean being cast out
of society. We still have rights: to vote, to carry guns, to belong to
the PTA, to enjoy car payments and insurance premiums. We can still
own a house, file taxes, and get credit. And, we can call the law when we are in danger or just in the presence of a thief. We don't have to accept being mistreated by men like this and if more women knew and embraced their power, men like this would learn that there are consequences to bad behavior.

I'm glad she stood up for herself but I wonder why she hasn't posted an alert on the guy so other girls don't run into the same problem? Calling the police on a client that has shorted you as a legit (no sex involved) escort might work if you are actually operating as a legal escort business, paying taxes on all funds etc. but most girls in this "hobby" are not operating under a legal tax paying business name and they have genuine reason to fear police scrutiny since many of them have arrest warrants or God knows what going on in their life.

I've always got the money up front within the first 5-10 minutes and subsequently I've never had to call the police on anyone. I really don't see a reason for paying "after" a session unless you intend to look for some reason to short the girl of the originally agreed upon amount. I've had maybe a total of 3 cases of gentlemen coming to see me and not having my full donation...all 3 times I handed the $ back to them and told them there must be a mix up about expectations at which time they were able to come up with my full donation...if I had went through with the sessions before counting my tribute I'd be in no position to negotiate short of calling the police which just isn't something I'd feel comfy doing despite my clean arrest record and nothing other than the hobby to arouse negative police attention.

I wonder if her 2nd job was as a stenographer.. that's some memory.

Fellows - this is simple to take care of.

Pay the agreed rate before the session starts.

That way, no one forgets anything afterwards.

Also - if at the beginning of the session, if you thought you had a handful of Grants and you instead have only some Hamiltons, then you aren't in an awkward position. You can either:

A. Go get the Grants and Benjamins, if that's okay with the lady(you may lose the session, so be prepared for this)

B. Reschedule, and pay her an appropriate fee for lost time if she requires or requests it(and if you wanna be a Good Knight In Shining Armor™, offer it before she has to ask)




I see well-reviewed providers, who have been vetted by Hobbyists I trust. I have no qualm whatsoever about putting the donation out BEFORE the session. So, that's what I do.


Now, that all said...


Ladies:

• Post rates where they can be seen. http://www.eccie.net/showthread.php?t=155335 - If that's yer showcase, yer website, or via a PM, do so.

For instance - if a Hobbyist contacts you with, "I'd like to see you for an hour session on xyz date," You can respond with, "Hi! That's great - my rate is ABC per hour."



• No reviews? Might wanna do whatever it takes to get some.

Offer some good introductory pricing, be newbie friendly, offer interesting menu items, offer dinner and a movie during the session, whatever.

That way, a prospective client can read your reviews, see the rates posted within the reviews with the menu offered, make a pretty sound calculation on what your rates are, confirm it with you, and since you're now well reviewed and he feels comfortable with you - he'll not hesitate to leave the donation on the table before The Main Event.


C'mon, folks - the above-listed scenario posted by Spacemtn should NEVER happen.

She showed tremendous courage and moxie but this situation cuts both ways ... who among us hasn't been ripped off at some point of his hobby career? She lived and learned. I have too. This chit will never happen to a provider I engage. And it will never happen to me again.
