Holy shit...

You always read about some dude, pissed that he gets to an incall parking lot, then the girl goes M.I.A... well..

That shit happened to me today.

Waiting on a friend to bring me coffee, cause yum, and I hear the email noise on my phone. Pick it up, unlock, and SHUT DOWN.

Mutha fucking fucknuts.

Eh, only takes a second to plug it in, wait a minute, power up.

I've got a new phone, had it on the charger all night. Barely checked emails when I woke, played a game while I read the newspaper, and had some music playing while I showered. All in all 2 hours...

Obviously this is a battery issue, and I found out there is a common problem with this phone that a lot of people are reporting.

Eh, just letting y'all know, this shit actually happens. *mind blown*

Ok.. boring threAD of the day... DONE.
Sorry to hear that happened to you.

To try and avoid situations like this, I do the following:

1. Keep a charger with me at my incall
2. Keep my computer with me when I go to my incall (so they can email if my phone goes berserk.

God forbid that the app for my hobby phone does stupid on me, and for instance I can't get a signal (and I don't have wifi at my new incall), then I would unfortunately be in your same situation.

Thankfully that issue has not happened with me since I got the "Burner" phone app from the app store. I had textatone - which is a free texting service, and you can only get 10 minutes of calling a month for free.

With the burner app, it's pretty cool. You can pay about $5 a month, and have a somewhat anonymous number that will not show clients what real phone number it is associated with.
The payment covers unlimited texting and calling. And when you call out with it, it does not show your actual real phone number.
Downside is, if someone who's number I have already seen, it typically only shows the phone number of who is calling me and not their name. That makes it look bad on me in the customer service department, but I'm usually able to explain why I couldn't tell it was them (unless of course I missed a call, it will show who called me in the app)
Part of why it is called a burner app, is that you can "burn" a number that you have set up with the app (Like mine is in my sig line) if you are getting wary of someone who is harassing you from multiple numbers. But I have had mine for over a year without any issues.

I used to only use textatone and say I couldn't give out my number until after screening. It's still a private number that I have kept, and occasionally I will get messages that do show up, but unless I open the app at least once a day, it usually works fine and updates anything I might have missed.

I understand that is not the point of your post, but if you are able to keep the phone charged well enough, then you can use these apps to keep in contact with your clients.
Whats your point?
Not that this happens all the time so that doesn't allow this to be used as an excuse but yes battery drain does occur.

I went to see a provider a few months ago had 80% on my phone. I used my GPS to get to her house and went to text her when I pulled up...no fucking power. I couldn't een text her to let her know i was there. I took a chance and just knocked on the door (it was a house and I gave her the specific time based on my GPS when I'd be there) but if it was a hotel, could have ended badly. It happens but its an anomaly , not something the happens on a normal basis.

Side note: OP are you expecting an NCNS in your future?

Ze's TLDR; Her phone died while waiting on a client to arrive, and she wasn't able to receive his text or email when he arrived. Client might have thought she was NCNS.

My TLDR; Ze's circumstances could happen to any of us. I gave suggestions on apps that could be used to make hobby life easier. Which could have been in its own thread really, but I personally thought it wouldn't be a problem to post here.

three times in last few wks, my iphone's battery has gone completely flat from 30% or so. took a photo or two, locked the phone, then 5-10mins later - dead as dirt. car charger doesnt have enuf ooomph. takes 45mins-1hr for electric outlet-based charger to even get enuf juice in it to turn it on.
so, if i had been texting/calling/emailing w/ a provider - i would have been s.o.l. !!!

my cheap tracfone has never lost power like that. and is a reason i'd rather use it to text or call w/ a provider (3G line so shit for internet access - akin to 300baud :^{ )
but not all providers will use text or phone.

lessons to learn and apply (in hobbying & RW):
* murphy's law will get you, period.
* have backup communication media plan w/ provider
* have backup communication device plan

damn, what's a guy gotta do around here to get sucked off & fucked!!

(just glad my device & media didnt flake out tues afternoon!!!)

Yeah, except you can get hacking tools to get info out of ingress that you can't get in Pokemon Go... not that I would know such things. heh

Ingress is nothing like PG. In fact, PG is missing a LOT of major feature and playstyle that Ingress perfected. PG is a dumbed down version. *sigh*

Ingress is all about the intel.

Very true... my statement is more of a dig on PG than Ingress.. PG was a total attempt at a rip off with throwing cute fuzzy creatures in to pull people in.
