Does anyone have a local shop they are buying bullets from? Holy shit, these things are getting as rare as a Cowboys playoff win... forget Academy, Walmart, etc. Some of the online sites are sold out, too.
.40 range ammunition is in the hands of panic-driven hoarders, likewise .22lr.
Some of the real gun shops have .40 duty ammunition but it's not Cheaper Than Dirt (points for bad pun).
Try Bachman Pawn.
I've found most of the common calibers (9mm, 40 S&W, & 22LR) in stock at the Cheaper Than Dirt in McKinney. But you'll be paying at least twice or three times what you were paying for it last year.

Gunmaster in Plano will usually have ammo in stock at a fair price. The tip I got with the Academy stores is that you have to go MWF when they get their shipments in first thing in the morning when the stores open at 8am & wait in line at the gun counter. They'll sell it to you at retail 2 boxes per person til they run out which is usually in less than 30 minutes.
Find out when WalMart is expecting a shipment and get there that day. My local WM won't even bother to stock the ammo shelves anymore. They keep it behind the automotive counter.
there is a real time website that will tell you what ammunition, magazines and reloading supplies is in stock and pricing for all of the online dealers. It is: www.gunbot.net
