Nightlife Charleston area to meet and hang out

Went to Charleston today for the first time. Went to a couple of hang out in the area. Couldn't really find any cool chill type local places to hang and meet or see sound ladies. Just saw what seemed to be a lot of tourists. Drove over to Folly beach area also. Ate at a local crab place but just didn't find anything. Any reconditions for night life there for us in our mid 30's to 50's.
