Almost Famous....meah...and other popular movies that sucked.

Am I the only one that didn't like the movie Almost Famous??

Just seemed like a bunch of overly sentimental clap trap.

Philip Seymour Hoffman as Lester Bangs was almost worth
the price of admission though.

Liked Sid and Nancy way better, even though not an accurate movie.

I didn't really care for Shawn of the Dead ether.
About half way through I was rooting for the zombies
to kill those irritating british dweebs.

M Knight Shyamalan movies also. One trick pony gimmick movies.
The six sense was ok. Signs made me ill, the rest gave me cancer.

Any popular movies that you hated??

Oh yeah, and just about every Japanese horror movie.
They will make a horror movie out of just about anything.

Like different people smell some dirty underwear and it
starts a chain of grizzly deaths.

Nothing, NOTHING! Sucks worse than the latest Lone Ranger Debacle.

Gotta say I did like Shawn of the dead.

anything sylvester 'sly rocky rambo' stallone has been in recently. the first Expendables was so bad i did not bother with the second one.
I think the point of this thread is that the movie has to be "popular". Some of the movies named above (e.g., Expendables) were never popular - they were hated even when they were in the theaters.

They were more infamous than famous.

That said, "JFK" was a turd. So was "Natural Born Killers".

The common thread here is Oliver Stone.

Twilight Movies.

Never saw any of them but I'm sure they blew Werewolves.

If he had, I think he probably would have gotten an Oscar for Pulp Fiction.

But a bigger Tarantino gripe is, for me, "Dusk til Dawn". Man, that was every bit as hard core as Reservoir Dogs.... until the rubber vampires showed up. *facepalm* Had they kept it from going campy I think it would be spoken of in the same tones that Reservoir Dogs & Pulp Fiction are.

True Romance was great.

Tarantino wrote the screen play.

Story goes it was a toss up between it and Dogs as to which
one they would make first with Tarantino as director.

I thought Ted was way overrated.

Charlie and the Chocalate factory remake.

World War Z sucked compared to the book.

Tron Legacy

Paul Blart mall cop -#276 all time on Box office

The Great Gatsby with Leo

The most recent Star Wars movies

Superman 2013 was way over the top.
2001:A Space Odyssey was...over...fricken...rated. Stanley Kubrick kinda lived in his own little world where there were 3 ways to make a movie: his way, his way, his way.

I'm sorry but a half hour of heavy breathing in an astronaut suit talking to a red dayglo button was...dull. The visuals were great for back then but geez...have a little ACTION.

Most irritating character in a movie that probably wasn't suppose to be.
Has to be Jar Jar Binks.

Worst movie genre, with the most overrated movies.
Has to be Period Piece movies.

Best genre.
Film Noir.

Best director.
A tie between Tarantino and the Coen Brothers
Talented Mr. Ripley and Cloud Atlas, I would like to be reimbursed for the movie and my time
