Chat Pictures ( Can be Saved )

I am making a friendly reminder that any picture you are posting in open chat can be saved. All it takes is right click and saved. If ladies are trying to keep their face blurred or hidden then posting full facial pictures in chat is not wise to do. It is a way of outing yourself. I don't care if you post the pictures but just wanted to remind everyone so you can keep yourself safe.
Thank you for posting this. Is there any way to link it to the provider after a right click? I mean is it just saving it, like any random pic someone saves from online?

The thing that worries me are the more public areas. Not that chat isn't somewhat public, but there are very few people on there so it's different than being on the equivalent of an online billboard, isn't it? Or am I totally naive on this. I plead ignorance.

Thanks again, I have always thought it was more like sharing your picture with a room full of people where you know a few will pass it to others but not on a grand scale.

I think it is hard but not impossible to find out who someone is from their picture. Depends where the facial shot is and if it is identified, such as on Facebook.

It is on the internet...anything could happen with it.

There are guys who save them on a regular basis to their collection it seems.

So should be done at risk.
Agreed. I guess what I'm wondering is if the photo is linked to my handle by anything other than a screen shot or right-click-save and some guy claiming its me. I mean if the pics aren't posted anywhere else and can't be connected by tineye or google reverse image then its just some random person posting their collection pics claiming the pics are of a certain provider, right? Sorry hope that made sense.

If they do a screen print of the entire chat window (rather than saving just the posted picture), it could eventually be traced back to whomever posted the picture on the chat window, because the chat window will show the handle of the poster. Once the picture is indexed by google or archive.org, the link exists and the picture is kept forever.

It is only a matter of time and search engines will begin doing OCR on the content of pictures. AT that time, the provider's handle can be linked to the posted picture via a search engine.

Providers, if you don't want your face picture linked to your handle, don't post it anywhere. period. Otherwise it can eventually be linked to you.

TP: good advice.
Thanks Luke.
