Visiting Domain area - what to do after work
Coming into Austin for business meetings on Thursday/Friday. Will have early dinner with clients and then back to my hotel. Wondering if there is a place in Domain worth checking out that evening.
To be honest. No.
Over hyped and over priced.
Thanks for the warning. I can always find a bar there I guess and see what trouble I can get into.
Just looked at the area and there’s a CRU wine bar there. I’m sure there will be a MILF type there looking for a friend for the evening.
Wish me luck.
The domain is a hotbed of activity after work hours. I'm not sure why people would say over hyped. The road, Rock Rose has people always. If you are into crowds (and I am), the domain is an amazing place after work almost any day, def Thu-Saturday.
Rose Room is amazing on the weekend if you just wanna be with hundreds of people and like EDM. Right above that is 77 rooftop bar with hookah (which is at least something to do).
Kung fu across the street, had arcade games so a single guy doesn't look too conspicuous.
If you want the best ramen, get the spicy vegan ramen (sub tofu for the meat or topping of your choice) at JINYA RAMEN.
If you want a great beer get the Founder's bourbon barrel stout at Jack and Gingers and don't miss their very tasty and giant pretzal.
Also kill some time at the Apple Store, pretty fancy.
The courtyard and outdoor seating at a variety of restaurants is available near the Culinary Dropout.
Steak? I prefer Paul Martins (scratch kitchen, craft cocktails), but there is also P-Terry's.
Healthy Vegan? Flower child on rock rose, the jinya ramen, Yard House (believe it or not) and the velvet taco.
Someone who says over priced and over hyped hasn't experienced this place on the weekends (with cash), especially Friday night and Sunday Brunch to 8pm.
Its def not cheep but I've never thought its too expensive.
Also Yellow Rose and Perfect 10 (on Bratton Lane) if you want a gentelemen's club.
Have fun and hit me up if you wanna grab a beer.
Tonytexasguy, Very useful tourist guide of the Domain. To be honest even I wasn't aware of some of those place even though I have lived in Austin most of my life and live a few miles from the Domain. Lol
It looks like the Domain has replaced 6th street for safe entertainment.
Used to frequent Yellow Rose on N. Lamar with my co-workers back in the day. It was always a hoot!
