Does everyone know they won't remove your profile even if you are outed or your wife or husband objects?

Since I was made aware of no such policy when I joined this site, OR I WOULD NOT HAVE JOINED, Is everyone aware that if your wife, husband objects (duh) to this site if they find you here, your boss, your neighbor, if you just finished school and want to join a government job. They don't acre they don't remove profiles. That's how much they care about putting money in their pocket versus your safety.

This is the only site that I have ever in my life heard of doing this. This site may ruin your life--just be aware of that.
It is your responsibility to protect your information when you join a website. I recommend always to read the guidelines and policies before joining any site.

Although you may not be able to altogether delete your profile, you can delete all the info within it ( except reviews) and your pictures.
One of the mods may chime in with the real skinny, but I have seen them:
- "Guest" your account, so that your handle no longer appears on any of your posts or profile
- Hide all of your reviews (or more precisely, I think, move them to an area only ECCIE staff has access to). This is a manual process the mods have to undertake.
- As Skylar says, you can remove basically all information from your profile, and the "guesting" process removes your old handle from it. So, your profile will still be there, but it will have "Guestmmddyy" as the handle and there will be no information in it. The links to the reviews will all be directed to a page that says "you don't have access to this".

What they can't do is remove any reference to your handle in all the posts - that too would be a manual process and almost impossible. I'm not sure, but they may hide specific posts if you point them out and they cause a serious security issue for you.

A provider I know well went through this recently. In my view, the owners seem to take provider and hobbyist security quite seriously. They simply can't remove all trace of you ever having existed here, but they seem to do all they reasonably can when an issue arises.
It is ordinary business practice in this industry tyo remove profiles. It never occurred to me that one would not do so. I believe that most people would NOT join this site if they knew of this review. Skylar--don't be a hypocrite. You need a posting for business so bad you need to say something on this post? I don't know why a man would find a lack of business and desperation attractive, but hey some of us have non oher options in life I guess.
I agree with Fratelli. I also know a provider that you can no longer find on this site so there must be a way.

Katexxx,

You are right. Most sites like TER will take down your profile when you've been outed. All other sites I know do -- just not eccie. ECCIE requires you to delete your whole internet persona before taking your profile down (fucked up since escort malls crawl our ads all the time and those are hard to delete). Sorry you're having a hard time. I hope you get things worked out.

xoxo,
Z

It's standard practice in this industry to remove profiles when there is a request or retirement. It never occurred to me that there would be a board that would not have this. Since it is common industry practice, I am pretty sure that most people and providers don't realize what they are getting into at all.

And Skylar, I feel bad for you that you have such a lack of business you need to make a pointless hypocritical comment on this thread. I don't like to be nasty, but I can't imagine that a desperate provider with no other options and nothing and noonen else to care about in her life-as evidenced by your response- is atttracted. But as I said, some people have no other options. I'm sorry for you, but don't hurt others in your desperation.

My response is going to make a complete nuisance of myself and educate everyone as to this policy. Because I do care about my life and a bunch of strangers is not going to have control of my private life without my consent. I did get a lawyer yesterday and I will explore every single opportunity to deal with this as possible. And I will keep at it until the policy is fixed for EVERYONE.

If you'll start by contacting your local staff they'll be happy to handle your request.

Thank you

Kate says she had no idea of our policies here, but this situation is detailed in the forum guidelines here http://www.eccie.net/announcement.php?f=5 and she had to agree to these when she signed up as a member here.

For reference, here is the specific guideline for this type of situation
#28 - At any time, you may ask to cancel/disable your account here for any reason, or "guest" your account for security reasons. Please submit your request to the staff and include the reason for the request so we may better assist you. In cases where you are asking for your posts or threads to be removed, you will need to submit a list of URL links to the posts you have specified for removal. We will attempt to assist in these cases, but please understand that this process takes time, and due to the amount of work involved, no timeframe or deadline will be given for completion of this task. Additionally, should you wish to return to the board under a different username at a later date, this must be done only after first making contact with staff and receiving staff blessing. (in some cases, a 90-day grace period will be assessed before issuing a new account) At that point, we will be be happy to assist you with the transition.
So once again Kate, if and when you make the request in writing to me or to websupport then we will put the above into action. To date I have received nothing except complaints about our policies, the same ones you had to agree to to join. We deal with guesting/disabling situations everyday on the site, and it seems to work well for everyone involved, but you have to take the first step.

GUESTING YOUR ACCOUNT/NO REVIEW POLICY

Occasionally we have a provider who, for whatever reason, needs to guest their account, i.e.. disappear. Please contact a staff member should a situation arise that makes this a necessity for you. We will do what we can to process your request with urgency. Please know that while we are able to unregister your account, remove your avatar, remove your username, and move threads you created from public view, we are unable to move every single post you have made. Often times, the removal of your username is sufficient to hide the fact that you made the post. Additionally, when making such a request, be prepared to provide staff with a list of links to your reviews, threads, or specific posts you are concerned with. We will do the best we can to help.

No-review Policies are selectively granted on ECCIE Worldwide for specific reasons, usually relating to privacy or security for the provider. Please understand that enacting a no-review policy on ECCIE Worldwide also forfeits your ability to post in the ad forums or create a Showcase. Also, please take note that No-Review policies are not granted to shield a provider from negative publicity, and that negative reviews may be allowed to stand to inform the membership, depending on the circumstances.
Why not just permanently ban her? Seems like a better alternative than waiting for her to initiate contact...
Yeah it's unfortunate when you post things on the Internet they are permanent . It is impossible to retrieve everything. That's why parents freak out on their kids doing dumb stuff on it. Internets been around for a while now, thought it was common knowledge not to post things you will regret.
