Where to stay in Norfolk?

Hey ladies and gentlemen! I'm planning to visit Norfolk again after Christmas and I was just wondering if any locals have some advice on safe, discrete, convenient areas to stay?

The "airport" hotels are most centrally located so should draw more clients due the convenience. They are clean, comfortable and reasonably priced.

I was also gonna maybe the airport (or downtown).
