Mary of Magdalene wasn't a prostitute. In fact, she was never portrayed as such until the end of the 6th century.. where she was called a "sinful woman" by Pope Gregory I. The notion of her being a prostitute actually goes against the canonical Gospels. The only mention of her in a negative light in the Bible is that she "had 7 demons cast from her". But.. in those times.. diseases were considered to be demonic possession. In other words.. she was healed by Jesus.And the Gnostic Gospels name it even more clear.
