DMN reporting on scam targeting older men accused of visiting hobby-related sites

Forgive me if this is old news. I read in the paper this morning (yes, some of us still read the analog version) that scammers are posing as the Tarrant County DA’s office in phone calls that accuse those on the receiving end of visiting sites associated with prostitution, and threatening legal action if the accused doesn’t pay a “fine” in bitcoin. They are even spoofing the TC DA’s office phone number (817-884-1400).

The scammers so far have tricked TC residents into forking over $300k, which goes to show how easy it is to fool people. Don’t be one of those people.
