Days Gone By

... Ok then - all you yester-year lads,

THIS thread is where you mention your favourite
or memorable restaurant or eatery NO LONGER OPEN
- a Western PA place that served great foods
and that you wish was still open for business.

... Should be simple enough... Have a go!

... I'll start off with a popular one for a
good number of me mates - DEL-KIDS over Robinson area.
Open for brekky OVERNIGHT.

Holy hell Salty.

I started to read your post and I was ready to respond with an oldie but goodie I didn't think anyone would mention . . . and there you were mentioning Del-Kids !!!

Great minds think alike. It was a great late night breakfast dive

Gus the Greek could cook up a storm. 6 egg Omelettes and a pound of bacon!!!! The Central diner in Robinson is good, but no Del Kids for breakfast. Fattigatti’s in South Fayette was awesome for dinner. Huge steaks for a reasonable price. You never left hungry. Many couldn’t finish their meals.

Yeah - Fatigati's is another lost gem. Went to college with one of the Fatigati's - that restaurant was a gold mine
... I did some checking... Fattigatti's - what a place!
Didn't they serve you mates TWO steaks at a time??

I'm thinkin' that the Fattigatti joeys decided to leave the
restaurant business and attend medical school at university.

Now let's carry-off with another one: place named "Howard Johnson's"...

Yovi’s hotdogs were awesome. Chicago dogs were my favorite. I saw a Yovis truck recently. To my knowledge, he doesn’t have a restaurant anymore.

Ryan's Ale House in Market Square - made some of the best burgers in the city back in the day

Chioda’s Bar in Homestead. Home of the mystery meat sandwich. Not sure what it was but it was good! Classic PittsBurgh bar. Memorabilia and trinkets covered every in of wall and ceiling space.

Anyone hear of the Blue Bird Restaurant in Clairton ??? not sure if it still open? Years since I was there since I moved away from that area. Great steak & eggs breakfast after the bars closed. Also we all remember the Original O in Oakland!!!!
