I was going to title this thread, "Sexy 90's R&B", but hell, what WASN'T sexy about R&B in th 1990's? Anyone care to share some of their faves? I'll take the lead:

Yeah, I'm "ready" after compiling this list!
LL Cool J " Doing and doing and doing it well" Hell anything from LL.
Genuwine "My Pony"
Brian Mcknight "Anytime"
Toni Braxton "High"
TLC "Creep"
Busta Rymes w/Janet Jackson "What's it Gonna Be?" (Not really R/B but its from the 90s and I think its sexy as hell!)
I could go on and on.. lol
Very early 90's...

I first heard this in a disco in palma Majorca, we had a problem in translation...

OMG I just found my missing link! I danced this version but my Spanish got mixed up between 'I want to leave' and 'I want to stay' and the story ended that night....

It has the wonderful bitter sweet taste. Watch it full screen, pictures are stunning, beauty in all its apparel.

90's ? can't avoid the lady...

kinda picky about my 90's R&B because, well, I was an adolescent and a dork so no amount of R&B was gettin' me any pussy in them days anyway

Bell Biv DeVoe - "Poison"

Xscape - "Just Kickin' It"

Joe Public - "Live and Learn"

but the all time greatest would be a toss up between..

Wreckx-N-Effect - "Rump Shaker"

-OR THE KING of R&B HIMSELF-

Bobby Brown - "Humpin' Around"

Though I guess former doesn't quite fall into R&B so Bobby gets it by default

Hmm... this reminds me I need to go pick up my daishiki and wide leg Bugle Boy jeans at the cleaners

some other honorable mentions:
Toni! Tony! Tone! - Feels Good
Zhane - Hey Mr DJ
Mark Morrison - Return of the Mack
H-Town - Knockin' Da Boots

ok! ok! I'll stop!!!
The Candy Man...

AWWWW I cant believe you guys left out SWV!!! Those girls had talent.... or lol have.
I've been thinking about Lipps and Inc

Too early for 90's, but in advance of their time.

'How long' was their only decent track.

It is a disco song but looks forward to R&B. Somehow it captures the same bitter sweet atmosphere which pervades all good R&B. Even the happy songs are sung in a minor key. All the major key songs (e.g. no clothes necessary) are weak.

So it was an exception, and a big hit in Europe, but maybe unknown in US.

Of course, probably nothing to do with Lipps, all down to the producer (like many R&B records).

heh! After you mentioned a disco and the name Lipps Inc. I knew the group name was familiar and then it hit me. They were the group that did "Funkytown" Right? I would consider THAT to be a bit of a hit. Wouldn't you?

Thanks for sharing it just the same, essence.

I'll probably post a real list tomorrow after having had a night's rest

I think R. Kelly donimated the '90s with his remixes. And his 12 Play and self-titled CD's were the bomb!!

Boy groups were big as well, like Silk, Portrait, Shai, Blackstreet, and you cannot forget Jodeci.

Girl groups like TLC, SWV, Total, 702 and Xscape got major play in the '90s

Singular artists like Kenny Lattimore, Chante' Moore, Toni Braxton, the late Gerald Levert, Jon B, Montell Jordan, and a few others I can't think of at the moment were ruling the '90s as well.

Mint Condition is the only "band" I can think of that was kickin' in the '90s and beyond. They were just in town performing at the House Of Blues this past weekend. I heard they kicked major ass!
