Thank You Senile Biden - US Diesel Prices set another record high

More inflation coming to you !!! Last week, east coast diesel inventories plunged to the lowest seasonal level ever recorded. Diesel is the workhorse of our economy. It’s used everywhere, from shipping and farming to factories.

US retail diesel prices set on Thursday the 7th consecutive daily fresh record high, climbing to $5.473 per gallon, according to AAA motoring club data.

And 9 states, accounting for 35% of the US GDP, are weathering now >$6 per gallon retail diesel prices.

Geez, where did Mr Gristle go with his daily updates? Everywhere I look gas is back up to 4.39 for 87 octane. I had a Passat TDI before VW pulled the plug on them. Diesel back then was around $3.29. But the thing got 50mpg. I drove from PGh to Hilton Head and still had 70 miles range in the tank. Oh well.

Diesel Prices Hit All-Time High, Meaning Soon So Will The Costs Of Everything You Buy

Diesel prices reached a nationwide average of $5.54 per gallon on Monday, setting a new all-time record, according to AAA. These high fuel costs are just the first devastating drop, the negative effects of which will ripple throughout the entire economy, with increased transportation prices adding stress to inflationary pressures already shooting up the cost of goods and services. In March, the year-over-year inflation was marked at 8.5 percent, the highest rate since 1981. Bloomberg Economics predicts that U.S. households will spend another $5,200 this year, or $433 a month, for the same basket of goods as last year.

While diesel prices might not immediately alarm many consumers who rely on regular unleaded gasoline for routine transportation, tankers, trains, trucks, farming machinery and other industrial equipment rely on diesel.

“Diesel is the fuel that powers the economy,” Patrick De Haan, the chief petroleum analyst at GasBuddy, told CNBC. These increased costs are “certainly going to translate into more expensive goods.”

Despite the price increases, the Biden administration has continued to antagonize the oil and gas industry with a cascade of new taxes and regulations that hamper production.

Damn, and I thought $2.80/gal. for home heating oil was bad last yr. A couple of guys on YouTube are talking about $6-6.50/gal. in New York and Mass. Not to mention what is on the front page of the Tirbune-Review about electric rates.
