Any ideas on Vegas outings for my B-Day...

Hi friends,
Im going to Vegas for my 22nd Birthday (Not to work) and I was just wondering if anyone has gone. Venetian is on my mind but I kinda like the Hard Rock and the New York, New York hotel also. Is everything expensive or how is it? I was going to put this in the Vegas section but I figured I'd ask my people here in Dallas about this. Links to places may help. I like dance clubs, shopping, sight seeing etc..

Thanks to all,
Tatiana Blaze

Among the places you mentioned, The Venetian has the best shops attached and nearby. Plus it is very near the Fashion Show Mall. Catty cornered across the street, more or less. Also close to The Wynn which has some nice shops. That being said, there probably won't be many shops there that you can't find in Dallas. Almost everything is big chains these days and frankly, if you're going to shop, New York City is a better destination.

Can't help you with dance clubs. But all the big hotels seem to have them.

Thanks TTH. I was looking at Orbitz for a deal and I found that they did have attached dance clubs, casinos and shop at some. Thanks for your help though.

The Venetian does have great shops, the canal running through is pretty cool too. Caesar's Palace has a really good shopping area as well, look for Vouge Chocolates, and bring me back a fire bar while you're at it, lol. The water show outside the Belagio is pretty cool to watch, and the pirate show at Treasure Island, both free as well. I'd pass on the "dinner and tournament" at the Excaliber, not worth the admission. Blue Man Group is absolutely funny as hell and a really good time. The Cirqu Du Solei shows are pretty cool, Zoomanity was pretty fun.

Bellagio is the best.

For your age you would probably enjoy Hard Rock and Palms better than anything thought. Better club scene. You can visit all the other areas pretty easy with a taxi or shuttle. Go to the Hard Rock Casino and Palms Casino websites, I think you will like what you see.

You will enjoy all of the Clubs and Casinos .....So much to see so little time ...Cirque da Soleil Shows are fabulous ....and there are about 5 or 6 of them there to choose from ......Downtown at night is a real light show ....Just go there with an open mind and enjoy everything .Then on your next trip you will be prepared ....with your looks and personality .YOU will have NO problem enjoying what Vegas has to offer ......The Rio ,Hard Rock and those are for the younger set ......but all can be fun ......Enjoy everything you can Tatiana and good luck .....hope you Win a ton also.....T

Vegas Baby! In general, it is more expensive to stay, eat, and gamble on the strip. Venetian is a really nice property and the nightclub there, TAO, is a cool place. TAO has an Asian theme with go go dancers and models wearing rose petals and throwing flowers in the air, it's neat to go once if you're into danceclubs and you might be able to get a free pass if you are staying there.

If it's your first time, treating yourself and staying at the Venetian is nice but do try and go to fremont st (downtown) one of the nights to see the overhead light show. They also have the cheap shrimp cocktail, cheap steak and eggs, 5 dollar bj tables downtown, it's hard to get those things on the strip.

cheapovegas.com is a pretty good site that breaks down all the hotels, food, cheapest table games, etc.

Personally, I don't think it really matters where you stay in Vegas. Chances are you will end up anywhere and everywhere along the strip. Your hotel should only be used to sleep ( an hour or two) and shower...the rest is open. I would advise landing a cheap room, and then spending the rest of your budget on FUN! You can walk just about anywhere on the strip and taxi's are cheap since you never really need to go that far.

Imperial Palace ( guys don't laugh) is cheap and located on the center of the strip! You don't want to limit yourself to one hotel/resort...too much fun to be had elsewhere...IMHO.

Is it true you have people harassing pretty girls along the strip if your walking alone? Im going with a majority of girls. Just wondering because none of us have gone that are going...

MGM will comp your airfare, room, food, drinks, and shows if you tell them that you have 5K to gamble with and put it into their hotel account.

just a thought.

It really depends on what you intend to do during the day as to where you might want to stay. If you want to have a sweet pool with eye candy for you and your friends I recommend Palms or Hard Rock. They pull in more from your age group. If you want to "sight see" then go cheap on the room as Nicole suggested. You won't be spending much time there. As much as cheap is good I still would say avoid Imperial Palace. Too many bad experiences there with nasty smelling rooms. Would hate to have a CSI light there. Flamingo, Harrahs, Ballys, Wild Bills all have good rooms for cheap(er) and you are center strip in the middle of everything. You also have the monorail right behind those hotels that will take you to MGM to the Las Vegas Hilton for cheap daily fares.

If your friends are as hot as you there should be no issue getting into the clubs for free. Don't even bother budgeting to get in clubs. You will probably drink for free as well with all the guys wanting to find a one night stand.

I use to go to Vegas every couple of months. It's my 2nd most favorite spot (Jamaica being #1). If it's your 1st time going I would suggest staying on the strip vs Hard Rock and the Palms. I personally like Paris, but I have stayed at MGM and Mirage which aren't bad either. I would try to see a circus du Solei show if you have time. They are the blast

Oh, and here is a bonus tip: Free drinks!! Sit at the bar and make sure the bartender sees that you are putting in at least $20 bucks into the video poker machine. You don't really have to play, and your drinks will be free. After a few drinks just 'cash out' and you will most likely get your 20 back if not more...either way it's cheaper than paying for them. Be sure to tip at least $1.00 for every drink.
