I think one of the bigger challenges for porn going forward is figuring out how to get paid. There's no demand for full length features any more and no one wants to actually pay for clips. Sites like Porn hub can continue to sell ads, but they won't pay for content and their advertisers are likely to dry up due to no one wanting to pay for their pay content.

Napster gave us free music but the music industry was able to get control of the situation. Porn has an issue because it's not going to popular for politicians to make that fight. I feel the same about prostitution, it's not a popular fight even though so many people enjoy (obviously not as many enjoy prostitution as do porn).
Porn "stars" are a dime a dozen and I assume most films are minimal cost. As many of us that enjoy Pornhub for free, I'm sure they have lots of subscribers - look at Club Jenna, and don't discount the amount of revenue from advertising, ECCIE is a good example. I think the secret to porn being profitable and progressive is control of their content.
