Cleveland Indians change name to Guardians

Laughable. Was "Intergenders" or "Sparkle Magic" already taken?

They should have called themselves the Cleveland baseball team.

If anything I would have preferred they came up with a name that honored Native Americans.

Thing is!!!

In the early teens Cleveland changed their name to the Indians to honor Native Americans. At the time their was a dislike of Native Americans. The name change was considered very progressive!
So now some 100 years later its racist.

Im kind of a baseball historian and had to double check this.

I find it ironic that the Indian name was used to honor amerinds at a time when things were racist only to have 110 years later to say the name was racist.

"Guardians" of what? Home plate?

How about the "Texas Rangers"? Or the "Houston Texans"?
