Other Hobby Sites

Recently had a gentleman contact me stating he saw information regarding me on this site. All of the reviews are limited access. The *board* is set up similar to H**e2 - Anyone have any intel on the site - it looks a little *fishy and questionable*.

One of the things to consider about being a mod is this.

If you try to keep things civil, say someone knocks some newbie review then a mod steps in and reminds the members to keep it civil, then the other members get all pissed off because of 'heavy handed moderating'.

Sometimes you just can't freaking win.

Deuce good luck to you guys I seriously mean it. I wont pass judgment on the site till I try it out.

One thing is for sure TONS of paying customers were pissed off with the way ASPD went out and believe you carry some of the blame. It's going to be a challenge to get some if not most of them back.

So far Eccie is doing well, I'm allowed to speak my mind, and they try to squash any beefs asap.

"Fishy and questionable" is probably accurate. It was set up and is being run by Tysteel.

I like it here to Mojo and also wish you guys luck Duece!
Don't need to go any where else.
I will be paying for my premium access soon the MODS seem to be fair and don't interfere to much only when needed.
Upgrades where also put in place as soon as they were needed.
ECCIE also has never asked me for not one red cent to stay around I like that that's one of the reason I've decided too pay for my premium access.

I was new to the site, not quite a year, but I learned a lot from being there. Even if I had been a paid subscriber (or advertiser), I would have had no hard feelings. I loved reading the history of the board recently.
Yes, we are moving along quite nicely.
All needed equipment is bought and paid for.
Programmer informed us today that the site could be up as soon as Monday for us to begin testing it out and making whatever cosmetic adjustments we'd like.
There are important steps remaining in the process between now and then, but currently we have no reason to believe we won't have most, if not all, of the data. Originally Posted by Deuce Bigalow

You might be able to help eccie "keep it civil" by not referring to ERAPS in the disrespectful way that you did. Originally Posted by Deuce Bigalow

Best of luck with the new site! I am a firm believer in the philosophy that a rising tide lifts ALL boats...

So, bon chance to you & to ERAPS! You've got a big job ahead of you & I wish you well. I also hope you have the ability to laugh at yourself because others will laugh at you from time to time. It's gonna be the wild, wild west in "BoardWorld"... at least for a while.

When I rejoined the staff at ASPD, it was with the intention of returning it to the original course Amber had chartered for it, and that it had strayed away from in her absence. My initial posts were pretty clear about making that change, which I began describing both generally and, in some ways, specifically.
After a week or so, events and circumstances forced the need to focus on entirely different, and immediate concerns. Due to the despicable act of someone who outed ownership to their real-world employer, ASPD was forced to close permanently, 28 days after I started.

When the announcement of ASPD's imminent closing was made, efforts were made by many throughout the community, including those here at eccie, to save and preserve the information contained at ASPD. Angel and I did the same thing.

With ASPD's closing, we've all been trying to find and/or create what will most closely fill the void left by ASPD's closing. That's no different than the effort Angel and I are making with ERAPS.
If everyone is happy with eccie, that's a good thing. I hope eccie is a success and goes on to be successful for years to come. That would also be a good thing. However, nobody anywhere these days is advocating the idea of putting all your eggs in one basket. With the choices available to us all right now, maybe there is no need for another one, but trying to fill the void left behind by ASPD's closing still has a long way to go.
If we have multiple baskets, and the void gets filled, that will be a good thing.
The extent to which a site helps to fill that void will determine the extent of that site's success. Who fills it and how isn't all that important. If ERAPS gives people what they want and need, we'll be successful. If we don't, we won't.

Regardless of what anyone says, the market will decide.
I'm cool with that.

I understand how the game is played. I have a good sense of humor, but maybe it's a little more refined than the "Pee Wee Herman" quality of stuff you seem to want to make a stand on.
You see the humor in the grade school funny name thing, and I see the humor in someone trying to say something intelligent by opening with a schoolyard taunt like "ecraps".

Different reasons, but we're both still laughing.
Folks ECCIE doesn't mind other sites being discussed but we've decided to limit it to one thread in the Main Discussion forum. Thanks everyone for the updates but in the future here's the link to the thread for your use:

Seems painfully slow also.
I'm moving this to the proper location, as LAP is unavailable at the moment.
I was never a posting member at ASPD and have only been hobbying for the past few years. I have read and understand the history of the site and it's unfortunate demise.

I love it here at ECCIE and have no intention of "leaving", but I agree that all your eggs in one basket is a poor decision. I am also a paying member on Midnight Live which has a different vision than ECCIE that I appreciate and also enjoy.

Like most others, I will test the waters at ERAPS. I am sure there will be differing philosophies there as well and each of us will weigh which philosophy fits them best.

Happy Hobbying!

Hi Duece!

I have expressed this before...

I knwo I was disappointede with the way things ended at ASPD. I was especially put off by all the "rules" but in the last minute!! I am not sure if it was Amber's mom, (JadedFire ??) or you and Angel at the time.

But all of a sudden there were all these "don't do this and don't do that", No nudity in the avatars, no even breasts, no rates, etc. etc. etc.!!

The fear for me is that these restrictive rules will be in place at eRaps and it will be a site of "don'ts"!

So, I think that will be a big influence on they way people either accept or reject the new site.

From a previous discussion, I believe you will be making the site one of do's instead of don'ts but a lot of people will have a wait and see attitude!

Smooch!
