Okay, lets really talk about the latest airliner to go down.

So AirAsia 8501 has gone down in a storm and debris has been found. So what can we take away from this? The plane crashed is pretty obvious. Nothing too mysterious or questionable. All we have are some idiots out there who are totally oblivious to cost of human lives. They think it is a joke or some kind of conspiracy theory. Now we have a debris field which is something we didn't have for the March flight from Malaysia. Looks like we will know in the next 48 hours according to the experts. Maybe some fools can move on now.

It is to early to speculate about the cause. Ask this question in six months. My concern is there has not been a move to better track the aircraft. The equipment is on the aircraft and the systems are not new. A determination to use global ACARS for tracking all aircraft needs to be utilized.

The outrage is, well, outrageous!
they found the wreckage....the cause will probably be something like weather related or pilot error....
no conspiracy here.....move on folks....

I agree the concept of a hijacking and a hidden plane is far fetched, but it cannot be excluded at this point. Nothing from that plane has ever been found and when a large plane like that goes down in the water, the plane doesn't remain intact - or can you cite evidence from the last fifty years where any large plane has crashed into the water without debris?

I'm not saying the plane was hijacked 6 months ago and is hidden somewhere. I'm saying that it is possible, and at this point, worthy of consideration.

Five booster inlet guide vanes are fractured and eight outlet guide vanes are missing."

OK - so even if it landed perfectly on relatively smooth, small waves like our hero Sully did, those broken off pieces would be metal pieces and probably sink...but, it was not intact, and that opens the possibility that floating debris should result from an open water sea landing in choppy conditions...you still cannot exclude the possibility of a hijacking, however remote a possibility.
OK, OK, damn fucking remote - but find the plane..somebody
This wreckage is in shallow water the other plane is probably in very deep water. Again every one hold your horses and wait.

Check this site it is for a company I retired from in 2002. The system that is in service transmit data in 22 mili Second groups to and from the airborne computer in the airplane. We experimented with sending slow scan video from the air craft at one time so we could observe what was going on it the cabin and the cockpit. That was dropped at union insistence.
Each message is capable of sending the air craft's GPS location. I would estimate the location is with in several feet.

I take the 3-4 days as more proof that the Malaysian plane is at the bottom of the Indian Ocean.

We knew exactly what route the AirAsia plane was flying. Unlike the Malaysian plane, it didn't drop below radar and fly for hours. It asked to change altitude to get above a storm and within 5 minutes it was gone.

Yet despite the fact that we knew about where it went down, it still took over 3 days to spot any debris. We only had to search a couple of hundred square miles and it still took a long time.

Now, the Malaysian airliner dropped to low altitude (below radar) and apparently flew for hours. So, it could have gone for over a thousand miles in any direction. That means that a over million square miles would have to be searched.

Also, if the Malaysian flight simply ran out of fuel while at low altitude and glided down at a shallow angle and low speed into the ocean, there is a good chance it remained mostly intact and sank. Just like the airliner that landed in the Hudson River.

And that is probably why we never found it.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If a plane hits at a shallow angle and the fuselage does not bust up, then the plane will fill with water and sink to the bottom of the ocean and take nearly all of the evidence with it.

Even if small amount of debris gets out - like insulation, a seat cushion, a piece of luggage, it is unlikely to be found because of the vast search area.

Right now, a piece of seat cushion from the Malaysian airliner could be half buried on a beach on the west coast of Africa. People could walk by it every day and ignore it as just more trash.

We don't know that debris from the Malaysian airliner hasn't been spotted. We just know that it hasn't been recognized and reported.

is this ANOTHER Benghazi thread?
The aircraft has been located about 150 feet below the surface.

Yep. Looks like it might have broken up in the air hundreds, possibly thousands of feet above where the remains of the fuselage a has been located.
AirAsia victim with life jacket raises questions about plane's last
I attended the Western Air Lines evacuation classes years ago. From announcement to wearing it takes about 4-5 minutes to find and put on a life jacket. How many of you even listen to the announcement given by the flight attendant? How do you activate the oxygen mask? It appears from the above that some of the passengers had time to secure the life jackets. That implies that the air craft was in a glide from altitude fast or slow we don't know but it took 4-5 minutes. If it was in a dive no one could have put the life vests on. They will have both boxes in the next couple of
days.
A bonus question what do you do if a fat lady or handicapped person is in front of you at the escape hatch(window)?
You stick your foot in their ass and push them either out or out of the way. We had a chance to take our scout group through the Western Air Lines evacuation training pool. It was a hoot for the kids and us adults that escorted them.
