Need to know

I am planning on coming to the windy city the problem is I'm not exactly sure when, but I think I have an idea. My question is for locals, or frequent visitors. I want to go when things are slower than usual if that's possible. I've done my research I hear going when school is in is a good time to go but that's not really what im looking for.

Is there a time of year or times of year (besides when blizzards hit) that the traffic dies down and the lines to places aren't so long and hotel rates are not scalped higher than normal? I don't want to go when it snows because I don't want the risk of being snowed in and missing any flights or any travel schedules.

So to the people that know the city, what do you suggest? I think I have an idea when im going to go but before I make my mind up I'd like to hear form the people that know the city and will tell it like it is, and not some travel website that may or may not be accurate and answers that may or may not be correct because its from someone that visited one time 5 years ago. I think im going to stay at the Warwick because of its location but im keeping my options open and not making my mind up where to stay just yet as im more interested in making my mind up as to when im going to go.

I may play while im in town but im not sure about that either it seems like most of the reviews come from agencies and not indys. at least most recently that is. Thanks for any help you can offer.

I don't know if you will find a time where traffic dies down as it seems to always busy there. Chicago has so many conventions and sporting events that I find very few times when activity dies down.

Just take the time to research the places and things you want to see online before you come and you can often find discounts when you plan in advance. This is a great time of year for the beach and lake

Best of luck and enjoy. The city can be a lot of fun but you just have to bring patience as it is crowded.
