texts sending me to a site

Hey People-
I've been getting texts from several numbers where the area codes all begin w/2, and they say I'm being investigated for online prostitution, and to go to this website, www.potentialprostitute.com.
I'm hesitant to do this for fear that once I do my computer will get jacked up.
Has anyone else received these kind of texts and what should I do?

Scam! If you were being investigated, they would show up on your doorstep. Not alert you via text. I would imagine that if you visited that site they would want some cash to "clear your name"
There is another thread about this and alot of providers have been receiving it. Once you go to the site , if you want to have your profile removed they want a fee of 99.00 to remove it. I hope no one gives them the 99 . Extortion for sure. LOL THere is also a section on there that says if you try to sue them you will not win. They have been sued many times and always win they brag about. But that was for copying and posting your pic on there, wonder if anyone ever tried to sue them for charging to remove it? I wish someone could.

imo, go to Kinko's (ok, Fed Ex Office) and use one of their computers to access the site.

Ask the site to provide you with the who, what, when, where and how about the agency/agencies doing the investigation.

Ask the site why they are not also alerting hobbyists (ok, most hobbyists don't post their phone numbers) since hobbyists likely might be even more paranoid then ladies who post their phone numbers.

Alternative option:

Set up a totally new email account on hotmail; or gmail or yahoo, but use the Kinko computer to do so.

Get the website's email and send this message:

I have learned (I read it on the internet and everything there is very real) that the IRS, FBI, NSA, FCC, NY Attorney General, California Franchise Tax Board and three committees in Congress are investigating your website.

Please buy a 100 dollar recharge Green Dot and send me the payment data by email. After cashing that I will let you know further details about what I have learned so you can take the appropriate action.

If you make any money off this scheme, please buy a 50 dollar recharge Green Dot and send me the payment data by email. All proceeds sent to ck1942 will be donated to a local battered women's shelter.

just block then delete the text, if you can't block using your phone then upgrade your phone to a smartphone or upgrade your account so you can block people. works great
Why take your time and energy doing something that's most likely being spawned overseas anyway outside of US jursidiction,
Most likely you're on a mailing list that was brought by these people or from a site that been hacked and they got hold of member info, that's been sold, they aren't sending these text to just everybody, but specifically to people who visited sites that have escorts, or you phoned a number that you thought was to a escort but really wasn't doing anything but harvesting numbers.
