first he sics the Feds on the AMPs, then jumps the price of security by a factor that would make 1920's Germany inflation look tame.

Why is the US the worlds policeman?
We're broke and constantly having to increase the debt limit.
Same goes for Europe (NATO) where Europe should pay much more, and other places

NKs missile tests. I'm not bothered by it.

NK being a threat. I'm dubious of it.

SK military is far better than it was 50 years ago. they're at the stage where they really don't need us to defend them. SK military is large enough to deal with the antique NK military if they were stupid enough to invade SK for a 2nd time.

its apparent that Trump wants to get out of SK. that billion dollar request is a negotiating ploy. they used to negotiate every 5 years, now its yearly.

I think he's trying to angle for a peace treaty with NK and SK with U.S. withdrawal as a carrot. the stick is the sanctions we have on NK.

do you know what Eisenhower said about NATO? if we're still there in 10 years it'll be a failure. well it's been 70 years and we're still there. failure. North Korea isn't going to use a nuke on South Korea for several reasons, the fallout would impact North Korea and China. they don't have a proven reliable missile either. and we provided South Korea with Patriot missile batteries. pissing off China is reason enough. if North Korea does detonate a nuke it will force China to invade and take Kim out.

DF - in the longer run of a military engagement between NK and SK - the SK would prevail - up to a point of China intervention to prop up their border buffer from Capitalism.

Seoul is within artillery range of the DMZ - and likely would be hundreds of thousands of casualties, and a major blow to SK and world economy in an all-out NK attack.

Powers that be - no one wants that - and the Kims are crazy enough to try to pull it off - even to the use of nukes.

China - isn't happy about the rogue regime in NK possessing nukes at all - but they cannot change it short of military intervention - and they got enough at home on their plate with restless natives.

so - on the merry go round goes and what will be the result is unclear.
