Specter of Nixon impeachment looming over Republican Party

looks like pelosi is following the 1973 playbook.

October 30, 1973, Congress initiates impeachment proceedings against Nixon.

October 31, 1973, Congress initiates impeachment proceedings against Trump.

In both instances, democrats vote overwhelming for it.

Four months later on February 6, 1974, the formal process was authorized in a nearly unanimous vote.

looks like Pelosi is shooting for February 2020.

past impeachment hearings took before or after campaign season, not during.

Andrew Johnson, impeachment hearing 1 year before campaign season.

Richard Nixon, impeachment hearing 1 year after election to 2nd term.

Bill Clinton, impeachment hearing 1 year before campaign season.

the timing of it is tricky. January 2020 is the start of the Presidential campaign season. this is going into uncharted territory.

a number of dem senators on the campaign will be taking part in the senate trials if it goes that far.

Over 400 house members voted to impeach Nixon. 31 house democrats voted to impeach Clinton. The Dems are still searching for a crime against Trump. The Nixon/Clinton impeachment’s have nothing much incommon with this current charade.

This started with the debunked Russian Collusion hoax. I have lost count how many piles of shit the Dems have shoveled up. When this fails, god knows what they will come up with next.

In the mean time, President Trump keeps winning. Why?

Unlike previous Republicans, he’s not taking any of this shift.

I personally think Facebook with the spread of their lies has helped the GOP more than any other source. These FB Bible thumpers spread more lies ….than eccie political posters!

Yes sound like 1973 all over ( but without any CRIMES)
Read Billary's book - How to win a election for Idiots , by ongoing investigations and impeachment threats
In the meantime, President Trump filling up stadiums. People waiting 24 hours for seat. The Republican Party gets it. Vote for impeachment at your own peril.

The Dim hierarchy (Lawfare) must know this. They also know a long game doesn't benefit them. Whatever they have up their sleeve has to substantial in their view.

Taking all polls into consideration, Trump's approval rating by RealClearPolitics is 42.8%, or -11,3%, and trending downward. According to FiveThirtyEight the approval rating is 40.9%, also trending downward. A POTUS seeking reelection has never won with a negative approval rating. Certainly history can be made in 2020, but it does not look good right now for Trump.

This is despite people saying the economy is fine. There are obviously other factors on the minds of voters. Maybe the polling companies should only poll those who attend Trump's political rallies. Even Rasmussen, notorious for being pro-Republican, has Trump at -9% approval rating, which I believe is a record on the negative side.

Seems like a slam dunk but in 1867 there were 54 republicans, 8 democrats, and 20 vacant seats. That means 36 votes for a conviction but it didn't happen. Johnson was a democrat but the trial fell one vote short of a conviction. Seems that some senators realized the gravity of the situation; overturning the results of an election because of politics... too bad we don't have people like that today. Instead we have Romney, Schumer, Sanders, and Warren.
