I have read several reviews were people talk about being in chat. How do I find out if someone is online and how do I chat with them?

BOBIE YOU CAN LOOK INTO CHAT AND SEE IF THE PERSON IN THERE, BUT YOU NEED A COMPUTER TO GET INTO CHAT, CAN,T DO IT WITH A PHONE OR I PAD

Yes, you can chat with an IPad. Just download an ap called Photon. I did it and it works great!

You don't have to get "INTO" chat to see who's "IN" chat.
On the ECCIE home page---scroll ALL the way to the bottom.
Under the WHAT'S GOING ON? tab which tells how many folks are online at this moment and statistics, it has the ECCIE CHAT section.
There it tells you how many are "in" chat at that moment and who they are.
Right now, it's telling me:
ECCIE Chat
There are currently 20 members chatting in the Lounge.
bamatide, Copierguy0, randomman, theG, Ms. Athena, TSKrystiKakes, daaaaaman, Bestman200600, BluesTex, Look-at-Stupid, HobbyFan42, hawks61, Julietravelgal, Yoso2323, Von Spieler, slacktide, hotrocks, 1bubbles, Sport0728, AshleighSin
That's how you see if your favorite person is in chat without actually going into chat.

To answer some of your questions:
1). How do I find out if someone is online? Well I answered that above if you were referring to whether someone was online in chat. But if you just want to know who's "online" in general, then look in 2 places:
____ a). On the main ECCIE page again...scroll down to the bottom where it says WHAT'S GOING ON? The first piece of information under that tab is:
____ Currently Active Users: 6437 (2803 members and 3651 guests)
____ If you click on the DOWN ARROW at the end of that line, it will open up a list and show you all 6437 people online. Look for the person you want to see if they are in that list.
____ b). If you are looking at this thread, you will see a little circle under each person's avatar and info. under it. That circle is BLUE when they are not online, and GREEN when they are. You just have to realize that sometimes people can choose to be INVISIBLE....so they may very well be online, but their status is not going to show that.
2). How do I chat with them? Like someone else mentioned above, you need a computer to chat with them (or phone I suppose) and to enter chat, you can do 2 things:
____ a). You can click the ECCIE CHAT tab at the top horizontal menu on the main page. Tabs include: (BROWSE SHOWCASES, SEARCH PROVIDERS, ECCIE CHAT, PREMIUM ACCESS, ADVERTISING, SEARCH).
____ b). On the main page along the left side under that MAIN MENU tab (that starts out with USER CP), you can find the word CHAT about 8 choices down.
Now, if you meant, how do you just chat back and forth with someone? Am I to assume you are referring to private messages? If so, then let me know and I will give you the detailed response for that.
