First time in LA end of August

I'm planning on coming to the LA at the end of August. This is my first time visiting so I would greatly appreciate any Intel about sites to use, areas, hotels, and anything else you think I may need to know.

what area do you need info on as for hotels and such
TER /P411/ EROS/ BP/ HX kinda like here but with out free speech
LA has many area's so help's to pin point

You might want to look into CityVibe.com, City-Source.com, Slixa.com (I hear it's good for the West Coast) and NightShift.Co as well.

Not sure where to start! So many areas doing some research now. Any suggestions?

I've seen ladies set themselves up in West Hollywood, Studio City and Sherman Oaks (just to name a few).
