the problem with the current barrier that what we have on much of the border is that they are too easy to climb over and generally don't give border patrol ample time to intercept the illegals after the breach.

It is not the idea of a fence or wall that I dislike, it is Trump's insistence, which he may be softening on, for a wall that is overkill at a huge cost to taxpayers.

Under the new timeline established in the documents, interested bidders will have two weeks to create and submit a design concept of what the border-wall prototype will look like, with two design options for companies.

One will be exclusively for "reinforced solid concrete" prototypes, while the second for "other" materials is more vague and does not specify the type of materials that can be used in the design.
Other requirements include:

• A "physically imposing" height of no less than 18 feet but preferably 30 feet tall.
• Anti-climbing mechanisms, either by ladder or other tools like hooks that humans may be able to get across.
• Prevent tunneling 6 feet below ground.
• For breaches to the wall (using building or cutting tools, or torches) to take at least one hour in concrete designs, and 30 minutes in the "other" designs.
• Accommodate surface draining, a particularly sensitive issue in the uneven, Arizona desert that can easily flood with heavy rains.
• Be able to accommodate "pedestrian and automated mechanized vehicle sliding gates."

New walls are being constructed. They are in all likelihood better than what is currently there. They are NOT what Trump wanted. But Trump must keep his promise to his base voters. Even though only 44% of those asked in a recent poll support the wall.

I am for secure borders but walls have limits. You can get over a wall with a ladder or dig a tunnel underneath them. This is exactly how the cartels are bringing drugs into the country through these tunnels and the war on drugs has not stopped this. It is a boondoggle and just something Trump wants his name on.

Also what about the other 3 sides of our country that are open. The UK is an island and is also dealing with an immigration problem.

I am also pissed that Trump lied about Mexico paying for the wall about 100 times in speeches. He said over and over again that Mexico will pay for the wall.
