TS/SCI clearance and hobbying

Gollum's Avatar
Does anyone here know if it is possible to get or hold a TS/SCI clearance from the government while currently hobbying or having hobbied in the past? Can you continue to hobby without risking your TS/SCI once you have it? Are these questions asked on a polygraph?

Thanks!

Much of that depends.

Yes, it may be asked on a poly. Not all polys are the same--depends upon the organization and the job.

Much also depends upon your situation. They do not care about your seeing the ladies here. They really don't. They care about whether it can be used to blackmail/coerce you into being a security risk. In many ways it is no different to you having a perfectly legal mistress. They aren't the morals police except as it gives someone leverage over you.

Married--in some cases they said "Either stop, or tell your S.O."
Single--similar situation, does your family know? Would it matter?
Already completely open about it--they likely won't care (unless you are seeing foreign nationals on a recurring basis, in which case they care about the foreign national part, not whether you paid her).

Bottom line: it all depends.
T is right. They dont care per se. It depends on how you feel about it. If 'you' think hobbying is a problem, that might trip you up on a poly and you'll have to explain it to their satisfaction.

True, you aren't required to disclose anything about it on your SF-86 unless you've been arrested for it, but that just drives home that they don't just care about felonies, they care about all criminal offenses.

If it's found out, you will have it revoked...there is no scenario where paying to fuck hookers is not a security risk for the organization that issues the clearance to you...

You are correct, no requirement to put it on your SF-86, but they do, and they go through the resultant questioning, they answer openly, they have no one to hide it from, and no, they don't have their tickets revoked.

No different than having a mistress or live in GF. All those raise flags, but in and of themselves are not automatic disqualifiers as some other things are.

Hiding it, or professing it, irrelevant. If you're doing it, and they find out, you're going to have your clearance revoked...we've seen it happen over and over again to individuals getting caught with hookers...

Again, there is no scenario where paying to fuck a hooker is not a security risk for whoever issued tYou the clearance...go ahead, voluntarily tell your employer you're paying to fuck a hooker. Let us know how it works out for you...

No sense arguing with you. I know what I have seen up close, I know individuals in those situations who still have all their tickets. You believe what you wish to believe.

I was seeing hookers via yellow page ads/calls while on active duty with a TS clearance. Never was polygraphed, never was asked. Granted.. that was over 30 years ago.

Yep. The second they find out...revoked...

I never said they investigate. What I said from the beginning is that if they did, it's going to get revoked. I hobbied the entire time I had my TS as well, but I also knew that if they ever found out, I'd have to transfer out of my unit when they revoked my papers.

It's a security risk...as has been proven by organizations all over the military/civilian world when they find their personnel paying to fuck hookers...
The biggest is financial stability...
Second is if you are stable.
Third.. Is your history.

Flunk one... You flunk them all
