PRINCETON, N.J. -- An average 43% of Americans identified politically as independents in 2014, establishing a new high in Gallup telephone poll trends back to 1988. In terms of national identification with the two major parties, Democrats continued to hold a modest edge over Republicans, 30% to 26%.

Their candidate, Gary Johnson, more or less leans Republican on issues like social security. He wants to privatize social security (wouldn't work for the poor and middle class because they couldn't afford to invest); eliminate Obamacare (poor and middle class could not afford healthcare). I do agree with a lot of his views on other issues, however.

I think there are too many Americans against privatizing social security and eliminating Obamacare completely. Revising Obamacare or cutting back on the cost would be a good idea.
