A friend of mine was in town over the weekend. He is pretty successful. He likes to gamble, so when he comes to town he stays at the Horseshoe.
I met him there Saturday night, kind of a boys night out. After about 3 hours on the craps tables (I mainly watched--I'm not in his league), he won a little over $10,000.
My friend has no idea I'm in the hobby and I would never tell him. He wouldn't approve and he's good friends with my wife.
When we cashed in his chips, my friend had one hundred $100 dollar bills.
Was I happy for him? You bet, but that wasn't my first thought. When I saw all those Ben Franklins, my first and only thought was "Damn, that's a lot of hobby money" By my count about 40 sessions just laying there in front of me--so close yet so far.
Too bad I didn't win.
