nikki,
NKC? No. Except for the casinos.
Here's the priority:
Plaza,
OPKS,
Casinos,
Downtown,
Airport last.

DallasRain has a current list of everywhere kcmetro that a couple hotel industry mongers help her keep updated.

There are also several specific niche type hotels that are in nice accessble locations but untill a traveler is used to KC metro wait on exploring those.

Plaza will have a new few hundred room hotel opening next winter (prob next spring).
Why is the airport last? People visiting the northland more would be sooooo appreciated from my perspective.

People there dont like to drive south of the river and others dont like driving north of it.
Its like the northland is the island of misfit toys!
Lol
North more convenient for some , plaza and OP for others.
I personally don't do OP because of traffic on 35 and 435.
Northland is generally less crowded and parking is easier.
Roxannes good for down home breakfast and lunch though Corner Cafe is very popular.. Rancho Grande good for potent Margaritas and decent Mexican food.
Tin Kitchen in Weston for BBQ and a little shopping in a small town atmosphere.
There's an Hawaiian Brothers in NKC that some rave about but I prefer Bun Mi Phan . Queen bakery has good Middle Eastern eats.
There's a strip mall on North Oak that has so many Vietnamese restaurants it's been named Little Saigon.
Tiffany springs water park and Oceans of fun are both North if you want some wetness and sunshine.
You're a regular visitor so no harm in exploring different areas on each visit.

Ok BigDeal, us northlanders are misfits? You will cover my next bar tab.

As for Airport Row, it is solidly packed with visiting businessmen midweek, so a marketing concept on that is valid. But so is plaza, opks, etc.
Airport row is kinda empty on weekends and yes a long drive from other parts of city

You think driving to the airport I’da long drive?? By mileage or time?? Because I can drive from Overland Park to the airport motel front door in half the time I’ve sat in plaza traffic and walked blocks from a parking garage to a motel. Northland had just as good of shopping at zona rosa as the plaza. And btw. The town of North Kansas City Missouri (casinos) is a totally different city than Kansas City north(side). The airport area
Airport to OP in either direction depends on time of day and traffic on 35 but I swear there's an accident and a long backup somewhere around the 635/35 interchange every time I go down there.
I also agree with cmore on the plaza especially that long patch of SW Trafficway where you can't turn around.

Which includes the construction backups around 35 and the Broadway exit.
btw, for shopping, Zona still has a Victorias Secret, the one on the Plaza closed.
The last 5-6 providers I’ve seen were at the Plaza, Crossroads (today), or Westport… I’d prefer those to OP personally, but when someone actually stays by the airport it’s such an awesome surprise.
