NBC Dateline last night was an eye-opener

Last night's episode, titled "The Secret Life of a Soccer Mom", really drove home how dangerous this hobby can be. As expected, it didn't turn out well for our Soccer Mom, but there is also a cautionary tale for our male hobbyists as well -- especially the ultra-paranoid ones. Let's just say, if the cops want to find you, they can, no matter what you do.
They didn't mention what, if any, steps our Soccer Mom took to protect herself, but this is a very dangerous hobby. You ladies do whatever you need to be safe. You won't hear a complaint from me.

Yeah, unless you build your own phone that isn't registered with the FCC, a warrant is going to find you no matter what fake name you go by. Burners help with stalkers and pimps, but are no protection from a warrant.

Yea, they tracked the TracFone back to the exact moment at the exact checkout at the exact Walmart the piece of shit bought the thing. All they had to do was watch the surveillance video to tap the guy.
I've never heard of anyone saying LE got a warrant to trace the purchase of their TracFone back to them. If your involved in some serious felony then you deserve what you get but LE isn't going to go that kind of trouble over simple solicitation. There are much simpler and quicker ways they can catch John's if that's what they want.

Here is a small town woman (Grand Junction, Colo) with two broke ex-husbands, three kids, and a $6000 / Month (!!!!) mortgage on her house.

What to Do ?? She started multiple small businesses and hustled hard, but really, if you need more than $6000/month, escorting is almost mandatory....

But the CREEPS out there ...... On the last day of this woman's life, she had two different obsessed men calling her multiple times - did you notice how hard it was for the police to choose the right CREEP, and charge him with murder ?? (And,no, he's not convicted yet)

As a man, I don't think that I understand what attractive women go through with stalkers..... Looks like a tough problem...

Nice summarization. I think everyone on the board should go give it a viewing, and then just ponder for a bit.

And while I think the creep that's still alive at least was involved in disposing of the body, I just can't help thinking the lying-assed one who fled town was involved somehow as well. He was there when she was killed, or witnessed the disposal and was seen and fled for his own safety. It's a bit of a shame he's dead, now, cause we will probably never know.

Sad story, she looked like a real sweetheart.

She should have sold that house and stop trying to live beyond her means.
Tough thing for a person to do though. Poor kids without a mother now.

I knew her and her family (parents). I lived in Grand Junction for 8 years. Used to work with her mom. Not when that happened though. It was very sad and tragic nonetheless.

People like the perpetrator in this story probably scare some ladies from even entering this line of work, which is really sad for the rest of us. You ladies provide a valuable service not many people are willing to do.

BBW Katrina -

I sure hope that you do not have to deal with the CREEPY, sociopathic men that bedeviled this poor woman.

I say, again, most (normal) men have no idea what go on in escorting, day to day...

And the murder was tragic and senseless.. It bothers me..

Interesting viewing. Biggest thing that was reinforced for me, other than the obvious dangers the ladies face, was just the fact that all these women have real lives away from this endeavor. They are all someone's daughter, sister, niece, aunt or mom. Many of them are single moms who are merely trying to support their kids the best they can, much like the woman featured in the show. It wasn't that she wanted the big, expensive house; it was that she didn't want to disrupt her children's lives. These ladies are all real human beings, with feelings, emotions and dreams. They laugh, they cry, they get angry, frustrated and, sometimes, happy. They have good days and bad days, like most all of us. They fill their cars with gas, pick up the dry cleaning, go to the grocery store, cook and clean. They lead normal, everyday lives and just happen to do what they do to earn a living. In addition to the obvious service they provide, they are also many times, companions, counselors, friends, confidantes or just a shoulder to cry on. They should be admired and respected. Yes, I know that there are some ladies who don't do such a great job, but I believe that they are in the minority and those tend to be weeded out in fairly short order. The majority, who provide quality service and do it the right way, have earned my respect and admiration.

Ladies, please be extremely careful out there. It's completely acceptable to be a bit paranoid. If your spidey senses are tingling, don't do it!!! No appointment is worth your life!!!
