Looking At ECCIE at Work

This is a funny story about me looking for providers at work.

I'm at work looking up providers which I usually don't do but I was thinking with the other head that day. After a while I went to lunch and when I came back the entire network at my work had crashed. So the rest of the day I was paniced that my searches had something to do with it. But luckily the networked just happened to crap out on the same day.

Does anyone else have any stories when you were online at the wrong time
Theres a huge reason I hate Provider ads with music. I just use my Iphone for searches and posting

I don't take chances like that........no way.
Do you think the IT guy at work, when he looks at the photos I have saved, will understand why I would want a picture of a tossed salad?

I never look at ECCIE or any related sites on a company PC or network. I have worked in corporate IT over 20 years and almost all companies I have worked for had the ability to log EVERY website ever visited from their network. Many were just stuck on a disk/tape somewhere "In case we're ever sued", but in some industries like the financial sector they were actively reviewed by compliance and legal staff.

I have seen people fired for inappropriate web surfing and I do not want it to be me.

I use my Palm Pre and take at least a 30 minute PPT (prime pooping time) everyday to do a little trolling and reading. I'm typing this right now while PPT but I have read on occasion my hobby yahoo email that has some interesting pics but I never downloaded anything.
Well, I have a home office and am single so really no worries outside of the dog catching me. He actually has caught me browsing but one milkbone bribe and he's really o.k. with that.

Man's best friend? You betcha!

Neco, funny stuff. What happens when Fido ratchets up his blackmail demands?

On point, never looked at escort sites at work and assume they were probably blocked anyway. As pointed out, that could come back to haunt you.

Solved my problem ( I guess) by quitting and working from home.

Well I don't have computer access at work, so I just browse using my blackberry.

I use my Crackberry too. The kids have taken over the home PC & the laptop is a work tool. Mixing work & play on that could get me fired. So I sit here on the couch watching TV and posting on ECCIE.

I NEVER cruise the boards while at work, or on work related computers/laptops, far too dangerous. The IT group records all the sites visited, and I do not wish to be let go over something as dumb as that. Plus, how the hell would you explain in the next job interview why you were let go, or what was said during a reference call? Not worth the hassle, or cost. I do use my personal crack berry to look at the boards while on the throne.

I also watched the local Sams, and they sell their display net books (refurbished and with full warranty) pretty cheap. Got one for 160 out the door. Now, these are fairly limited in their abilities, but I have loaded up Windows 7, and it surfs the boards (and thehun.net, pinkworld.net etc.) fairly fast. No problems so far, even with video. And since it is mine, I do not have to worry about others complaining. Of course, I do not use work internet to cruise with the net book either.
