Lights on the Plaza

Is anyone going to see the lights on the plaza this year? It's my first holiday season in Kansas City so I'm really excited.

Currently in NYC, so no.
Btw, one of the KC region high school bands just went by

Back to KC Plaza: after yrs of dealing with the crowds there, I suggest getting a very early table at a 47th St Restaurant to stay warm, and then emerge for the show. Even though Turkey day, quite a few are open, as the crowds are on their doorsteps and will heavily spend.

Too many people to wade through. If you had go through last night in the wee hours, you could have seen them without the crowds. They will do a last check to make sure they all work. Also if you remove one light, it won't make the whole string go out. I did it once.

Happy Thanksgiving, Sienna!

I just got home from there. Took a date who had never been. I've never seen it before either but never really had the desire. It seemed crazy to stand around in the cold and rain to watch them turn on lights that would be on for another month.

So we went to dinner at McCormick & Schmick's and were planning to skip the actual ceremony and just wander around the Plaza until the lights came on. but we finished dinner right at 6:30 and the ceremony was a block away so we wandered over. It wasn't nearly as crowded as I expected, and the music was nice. The lights came on, there were fireworks, and we left. Parking wasn't a nightmare and we were back at my place by 7:15. It was nice. I'd do it again if I was with someone who was interested.
