I thought some about where to post this. Since this area gets about twice the volume of the national version, I picked here.

This way, ladies are included. This is not an obvious "guys only" topic.

I also searched under "movies' just in case this topic has been covered before. There were 297 pages of cites, so I just have to rely on my old memory that this may be a new topic. That was just too much stuff to review to check for the duplicate posting risk.

So...old Zont is couch surfing the tv selections and catches the introduction to "Belle du Jour" on the Turner Movie channel. The hosts are excitedly talking about the designer clothing worn by Catherine Deneuve in the film. I was just excited about Catherine Deneuve. I had never seen the film so... no early bedtime for Zont. Mrs. Zont is long sacked out.

Bottom line - I was disappointed. Severine, the name of the lead in the film, seemed to enjoy sex only if involved some pain, torture, or something equally unpleasant (IMHO). I fully subscribe to the tolerant WALDT attitude around here, but that did not mean that I had to watch the whole movie, so I did not do that. Zont does not do pain...

Also, Ms Deneuve did not excite me as much as I thought she might. Mainly it was her character of course... The designer clothes were not that sexy!

The brothel scenes held some interest. Three ladies, counting Belle, the new one. The madam actually was a hottie - remind me to check to see who she is! I got through two customers - one happy and weird, and one scary and weird.

It was interesting to see how the madam operated the place. It has parallels to what goes on in our community, other than the madam and lady workers part is not a big feature of how things go down around the community now.

Plus a bunch of home life scenes with Severine and her husband. Either weird sex, no sex, or a combination (or boredom....)

All in French with subtitles. Nothing porn about it - not even a side boob shot, unless I missed something.

This all got me to thinking. What other "hobby' movies are out there? A couple come to mind "Irma la Douche" -which I have never seen and "Taxi Driver", which I have seen, but mainly is about how bad pimps are and that they should die. And of course the lead actor's obsession with Jodi Foster - understandable (LOL)

So folks - what have I missed? I am thinking mainstream movies, of course. I am sure there are obvious ones, and I apologize for that. Anything "enjoyable" out there?
Worth a mention is 'Monsters Ball.' Some good 'hooker visits motel room' scenes there with Billy Bob Thornton.

The actress was Geneviève Page. You might like her in Silken Affairs.

Risky Business.
Yeah ..... people love this shit.

I'm dating myself here, (and always proudly so) but even Threes Company had several shows where they "encountered" call girls.
Of course all was presented very classy but caused a freak out on Jack, Chrissy & Janet's view.

That show was aired in the late 70's to the mid 80's.
It was considered "risqué".

Nowadays ... it's presented in many scenarios and even though not considered so risky .... people still become infatuated with it.

Funny that when they find themselves face to face with a real life "hobbyist", Gigilo, or Call Girl ... they seem repulsed.
Go figure.

They can go on and live their fake "happy" life, posting on facebook all is perfect .... but we gals... yep ... we get the full story!
...

.......... ...............

As far as movies, here's what comes to mind for me:
* The Best Little Whore House in Texas
* Midnight Cowboy (John Voight & Dustin Hoffman)
* The Girl Friend Experience

The "Junction Boys" had scenes of none other than the famous "Chicken Ranch" .

Which "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" loosely was about.
Hmmm ... that's interesting
So those Texas A&M boys got a break and had enough energy for the Chicken Ranch? Wow!

Well, we also can't forget "American Giglio" (Richard Gere and Lauren Hutton).
The movie had another plot as well and was a good depiction of how clients and providers can become "too" involved.

Isn't it funny how Richard Gere played the part of "Sex for Money" ... and in his later years was on the other end of it with Julia Roberts?

The TV Show "Firefly", one of the lead actors plays a "Registered Companion" called Inara. Fanstastic character, great role, as are all the characters in the show. There is one episode in particular where the crew go to help an friend of Inara's who runs a brothel. Amazing episode, called "Heart of Gold". Must see.

There's "Risky Business", with a young Tom Cruise. Good film, great soundtrack by Tangerine Dream. <Edit: Oops, someone listed this above.>

A recent film called "The Florida Project" which touches on these themes too, another excellent film.
