Best way to get references?

I have been going to AMPs off and on, but would like to branch out to independents. Unfortunately, they all ask for references (which is understandable) but since I haven't been using independents I don't have any. And I can't get a reference unless I can get a date. It's a vicious circle. What is the best way to go about getting references if you are just starting out?

Seriously though, search for Newbie friendly ladies (there are several in the DFW area) or get P411.
