You can do a lot of things and not go to prison. A lot of things that don't involve violence, anyway. But this is NOT one of them. And there are likely a lot of really, really nasty dudes in prison who are fathers and, as bad as they are, love their kids.
The closest thing to "good news" for him is that it's not Wilco.
