Kalingrad was what was left of Prussia.

I find it kind of weird that Kalingrad was kind of tarred babied at the end of WWII.

Germany couldn't keep it and all the germans were expelled to E. Germany.
Lithuania didn't want it, too many russians
Poland didn't want it, too many russians.
so Russia ended up keeping it.

when Soviet Union collapsed, germany, Lithuania, Poland didn't want it either.
Germany didn't want it, too busy eating E. Germany, absorbing Konisberg/Kalingrad would be controversial and a distraction.
Lithuania didn't want it, too many russians.
Poland didn't want it, too many russians.
it became part of the Russian Federation.
