In Germany, I use T-Mobile. My company provides my phone, but I did look at their pay-as-you-go plans. 25 Euro gets your 3 GB of data.

For me, I don’t use Google Fi, but I like the idea of it. It’s pretty cheap, and if I used Android smartphones, it would be a win.

I’m a little bit old school with my approach to phones and service. I prefer getting a local number in whatever country I go to.

It makes it easier to pass out your number and actually get people to call you.

For international traveling, I use Google Maps. The trick is to download the offline maps ahead of time, and also to do it over WiFi.

I haven’t used a dedicated TomTom GPS in years, but I do pay for the app on my phone. It’s like $50 for three years, and I can download whatever maps I want.

One day, I’m going to get an iPad Mini with Cellular. I’m going to get a special car mount for it, and use it as a dedicated car GPS/travel tablet.

I have not considered google yet, was thinking of T-Mobile as everyone says the LTE network or the equal they have to Sprint's LTE never goes out. I think I just need go to Sprint and buy extra data.. Check out an app ATUDO; it is a traffic app; since you are not on Sprint see if it works there; it is one the locals use but when over there on my phone it won't work, only on the Samsungs it seems like. All this is like Chinese to me. I really do not even understand how a TomTom works and how it has live data but my Swiss friend is handling it all for me.

Put the FKKs on the back burner. Europe is safe. Even the RLD is very safe in fact safer than most think. This is one reason myself and several friends do Europe. No one can argue it is safer than most places.
