Best restaurants in Des Moines ?

hi everyone !
My friend Alexi and I will be traveling to Des Moines and Cedar Rapids and will be visiting from northern California this month. We would love any recommendations on the best food spots around! It could be anything from hole in the wall to high end fine dining. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks in advance

Smokey Ds bbq, 801 Steak and Chop (high end), Latin King - Italian - homegrown for breakfast- it’s a start - and try tasty tacos orginal flour taco- Des Moines thing

Waveland Cafe. Especially the one in Booneville.

Ohanas steak house is my favorite place to eat

Malo - “fine” Mexican
Gusto Pizza Bar - As described
The Latin King - Italian
The Angry Goldfish - Best Dive Bar with solid menu

I second Ohana. It is also my favorite. Go about once a week

I prefer Noah's Ark to Latin King. Ingersol a bit west of downtown.
I hear The Big Steer is a really good steak house, but I haven't been there yet. You actually can't go wrong on pretty much any steak house here.
The Waveland Cafe on University in Des Moines, and Jason Momoa shows up there from time to time.
El Rodeo Mexican on Douglas around 75th I think.
Thin crust pizza, The Tavern on 5th St in West Des Moines or Dough Co pizza on University at 27th (I think) or in Ankeny. Thick crust Felix & And Oscar's on Merle Hay just north of the mall.

I like Johnny’s . I know it’s kind of a chain type thing but I’ve always had good food there
