On a tight budget so nothing swanky. Can’t afford to drive to Texas but sounds like a crazy place to play LOL. I would like advice from anybody really on a good town and a good place to stay in that town. I’ve never ventured out of my bubble so I’m a little scared

Texas is a hard market for new travelers... donations have gotten ridiculous there and MOST guys dont like it! But if you do go,pm me....but you have a good menu and are very personable so you should do good there.
I am from Texas and have been traveling all over it for more than 15 years
I have a big list of repeats and my donations are liked by them..so I do quite well.

I suggest getting involved in discussions there in a few cities.. get your name out there so you can gauge interest for a trip.

I am almost full time gypsy ho,so I have a checklist with hotels to use, tips for staying safe...... and sometimes I can write my guys to suggest they see a new touring gal.

its a crazy world in the hobby so helping each other out is my priority

you might try wichita and omaha.. i luv those cities

Springfield Mo where I live is mostly a " skip the games" kinda town

stay safe and have fun whatever you do

Come to DSM! I just moved there from Chicago and am constantly surprised by how consistent the business is.
SS...there isn't much around that's ONLY 3 hours away from KC...Wichita is basically 3 hours, St. Louis is 4. Des Moines is about 3.5 out. Any of those places intrigue you??
Katy trail - is a bike trail from clinton to just outside of st louis. There are a few shops where you can rent a bicycle near kc metro area. At the trail stops, you can read about history of the towns when it was a train rail line.
In short, go to greenridge mo and rent a bike or walk around the town

South of Springfield is Branson: they have a lot of stuff, but probably not a good place to make your money - family town.

East of Springfield is Lebanon, MO with the N. fishing river by Bennet Springs State Park. The cross country roads are good, except Highway 7 East of Warsaw (West of Warsaw to Clinton is OK) Take 13 south toward Springfield and get to 65 South. Look at the map to Bennet Springs. In fact, the state of MO has some of the best fishing spots in the nation.

There is trout fishing throughout the state, and a lot of canoe trips. That is a blast for small groups of young folks. I have been with a lot of groups, just call ahead and rent a canoe during the summer. Over 40 years ago, I had a log book of over 1000 miles completed canoe trips on Missouri streams: I have lost track since then. Just go on line to the Dept of Conservation - the best in the Nation that gets better every year since they took politics away from the Department and then the voters gave them a 1/8 cent sales tax that is set aside just for them and the politicians can't touch it. That makes a lot of them angry: the voters support it by over 80%

About 1 to 2 hours away is Truman Lake and The Lake of the Ozarks.

It all depends upon what you enjoy, and who you are getting away with or from.

Hope I helped.

You rock! I like Omaha. I will check it out!
