Instead, both he and Hillary loudly proclaimed "Assad must go" soon after the Arab Spring protests started in Syria back in 2011. The Muslim Brotherhood was ousted back in July 2013. Egypt's current President is Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, who has been cracking down hard on the Brotherhood. We have a close relationship with Egypt's military going back almost four decades now.
