Coming to Vegas this week and staying at the Nugget. First time not to stay at the strip and need ideas for what are must do sights and restaurants for downtown. I read the mob museum was one, anything else?
Did I accidentally post in the South Western section of North Dakota? Wow, you guys are informative!
Downtown the best show is right outside the door on Fremont St. Both the light show in the evenings and the freak show on the street underneath. The zipline on Fremont is fun but expensive.
Restaurants - Dupars in Golden Gate is the best little diner in town, The buffet at Main Street Station is excellent, Vic and Anthonys inside GN, Tony Romas inside Fremont casino
The mob museum just recently opened, havent been there yet. There are many old restored neon signs from various old casinos on display on and around Fremont St, pretty cool to check out. I wouldn't wander too far off Fremont, the surrounding area is not exactly the best part of town.
I stayed at the Nugget the last time I went to Vegas. I enjoyed it more than the Strip because it was less "touristy" than the Strip, and more of the artsy-type scene; talking about Fremont St. There is plenty to do there. If you are into the smaller bars with smaller dance floors, the Nugget has "Gold Diggers."
I think the Main Street Station is the place that has a section of the Berlin wall in the mens room.
It's toward the middle of the casino the urinails are on it.
Thanks, think ill check out VA for dinner, a couple of drinks at the bar 46 that overlooks Freemont and pan for some gold @ Goldiggers.
