Traffic / Redlight Tickets..

slims099's Avatar
I want to get my red-light ticket handled in the cheapest way possible. I owe $100 on it, but can I get it taken care of for less? I hear some lawyers take care of tickets for $45 or something... Are there repercussions to that? Never tried it before and would like to see if anyone can help.

Thanks.

that usually means $45 plus the $100 fine. The fee is for you not going to court and getting probation.

not necessarily true. i left smile oriental bathouse on a friday about a year ago, and traffic sucked so i re-routed my trip and managed to get pulled over by a motorcycle cop. they had a thing setup, near harry hines and royal where they would pull people over. i came out of the side street...saw things were open on east-bound royal and pulled out. cop walks out and points at me and i pulled over and got a ticket for not stopping at a stop sign which i never saw. yes...i went back and it was there. but the cops could not have seen my truck, the stop sign, and where i might have stopped, if i even did. i even went and took some pix to prove my case. but i didn't want the hassle of pleading my case in front of the judge.

found a traffic ticket lawyer, and paid them 40 bucks. thing is the cop was never going to show up anyway for a simple traffic stop. they just go on percentages and hope many will just pay the fine. i waited until the last day i could deal with it, and called and pleaded not guilty and got a court date. 6 months away, knowing there was no way a traffic cop would show up for a running a stop sign ticket 6 months after the fact. showed up...waited until they called my name...they asked me if i had representation. i said yes and they said case dismissed.

JPdM

p.s. and KNOX...you don't get probation for a traffic ticket.
And typically to keep it off ur records...for ins purposes

I recently got a ticket for running a red light via video camera. it was already yellow and i gunned big red in a vain attempt to make it through, didn't make it. About a week later i got the expected notice. They have website where you can view the video online, i found it amusing. it cost $75 to just pay it. I wonder what a lawyer could really do with indisputable video evidence? figured not much so i just payed it. This isn't a regular occurrence for me so i figure it won't impact my insurance rate.
Just don't pay. They will threaten, but its not a real ticket. They will turn it over to a collector, but they can't report it. They can't prove the driver, so they can't prosecute.
