Intercontinental

Anyone been to intercontinental hotel on plaza lately? Easy to get to elevator from garage without going by front desk?

Easy?
Of course you'll walk past the desk. Just don't lurk around and draw attention to yourself.
So... just "easily" walk on by looking at your phaser, communicator, whatever that thing is in your hand.
Wear a mask - required. There's no valet parking at this time.
Btw, Bars open only Wed thru Sun.
Yes, you can have them open the door to the garage. I believe it’s the first 2-3 floors that allow this access.

You don’t need to go anywhere near the front desk from the garage.
Can I pay cash for the parking?

I have had that job as a hotel front desk clerk. We absolutely knew who was "working", and who was "visiting" and we absolutely didn't care.

The only time I've ever gotten the eye was at a hotel attached to the downtown casino in St Louis.

Something new I've seen is from a property management group out of Springfield MO. They have camera's in all the hallways. I've noticed their customer service is lacking too.

Jesus Christ, fellow Eccie hobbiest’s please let me end this hotel thread once and for all. I have worked at the IC from. 2010- to 2019. I was an executive management member and involved in the day to day operations, in front desk, valet parking, housekeeping to F& B. Make know mistakes. Employees in all departments have no clue about providers or us and the use of their hotel. They are focused on there jobs and tasks at hand along with customer service. So WE are just be regular customers going about our daily lives. Unless you are an idiot and do something stupid that’s says why you are there or something to bring attention to yourself like peeing in the garage. You can talk to everyone, they will happy to engage in conversation. Nobody knows why or cares why you are there at the property unless you look “suspicious”. What does that mean? Coming inside with a jacket on while it is 100 degrees outside.
Btw, our camera system was upgraded in 2017 to a much better system, there are about 25 cameras within the entire property, include the garage, and lounge. Not on the gust hallways, elevators, ballrooms.
If you think my identity is given away, not even close. In my description of myself, there are about a 100 people in that same scenario as our turnover was through the roof.
Btw, acting normal will apply to most hotels 95% of the time.

All,
Topgun is quite correct.

And, the newer vid systems are quite nice and Sr management can remote moniter.

All upper midrange and higher hotels have cameras nowadays.
Insurance outfits require hotels to have them simply due to drunk civies causing problems.

Same comment as Topgun:
Just be the normal hotel guest, ignore cameras, and don't be the idiot.

I'll add: don't wander around lost (ask where the lift is). And, save the first kiss, hug, etc, till door closes.
I didn't realize I opened up a can of worms on this by asking the cash question lol. I have no issues with hotels or their front desks, I would rather not have something on my CC statement if it's not needed.

bbg,
You really didn't.
You bring up a recurring issue that's one of several issues that a lot of guys bring up and for which the same answer applies:
Don't worry about it. It's no big deal.

As for paid parking, regardless of hotel, the only alternative to using a credit card is to get a parking validation coupon. But, Hotel desk clerks, bell hops, valet, or concierge hand those out like throwing confetti, so just get one. Again, they simply want happy guests.

Last, the 50 caliber machine gun at front desk is just there to keep the pizza and bbq delivery guys from fighting.
You only draw attention if you draw attention to yourself showing a lack of confidence or like you dont know where you are going.
Walk in with your head high with a since of confidence like you know where you are going, without looking around. They can't know all of their customers.
Fuck it I just walk into the lobby and this is how it goes down:
