When I attempt to get on chat, I get the error message "blocked plug in", any thoughts?

If you are using Safari then I can assume that you are using an Apple device? ECCIE Chat requires the Flash component in order to function. Apple products do not support Flash on their own. If you are using an iPhone or iPad, get the app Photon. It is an Internet browser for those kind of devices that will support Flash.
