Easy ways to clean or speed up my computer that I can do myself?

Is there anything I can do myself, for free, to increase the speed of my computer?

And as weird as this may sound, it's not really my computer that's slow, it's my freaking Hotmail that is slow as hell on this computer.

It's so bad that when I am at my incall now, and I need to use Hotmail, I just do it on my phone because it's faster.

Anyone have any advice, and please dumb your advice down to the most lamest terms, I am extremely computer illiterate

I guess I'll make my first post about IT, Ironically the week of a certification test. Anyway, Have you tried a different browser to look at your email? like do you use Internet explorer or Firefox? Safari or Chrome? Is it just Hotmail that is slow to load or using the Internet in general?

How old is your Computer? I found out the new graphics for the website are very intense on a computer.

use gmail, if you need the computer to go faster. try a fresh reinstall.

Could be just a slow connection. Does it also load slowly using WiFi on you phone?

Since you didn't specify your operating system OS, you can bypass the OS by booting from a CD, DVD or USB drive on a Linux Distro. Suggest "Mint" and go to your Hotmail to see how it behaves.

Like 0527 stated, use Gmail, it can be setup to access your Hotmail account.

Alternatively, try Mozilla Thunderbird to access your Hotmail, it installs on your PC and works remarkably well.

Lastly, just buy a cheap Chromebook, they are simple and fast.

Thanks for the suggestions gents. I'll check them out later this week when I have sometime to focus.

Probably spyware and other junk (virus) from the internet that's effecting poor PC performance, so reformat the hard drive and start over. Make sure to save the files or data that you want to keep before reformatting.

Always update your browser with the latest version.
