Probably too late, but Lubbock is pretty close to Amarillo if you can spare an extra day. Just saying.

Driven that drive many times! Check out the east side of Amarillo to see the VW beetle grave yard instead of the Cadillac ranch. On the west side of Amarillo is a train car that was turned into a burger joint that was on dinners drive-in’s & drives!
