Herschel Walker calls for CNN to take Don Lemon off air

Former NFL running back Herschel Walker characterized a recent CNN segment about Kanye West’s support of Donald Trump as “despicable” and said he wondered why anchor Don Lemon and commentators Bakari Sellers and Tara Setmayer aren’t taken “off the air.”

A segment of “CNN Tonight” received sharp criticism Tuesday for remarks about the rapper’s support of the president that critics say are racist.

In the segment, Mr. Sellers said, “Kanye West is what happens when Negroes don’t read,” and Ms. Setmayer calling West “the token Negro” of the administration.

Mr. Lemon laughed throughout the comments. Mr. Sellers, Ms. Setmayer and Mr. Lemon are all black.

After the swift first round of criticism, Mr. Walker added his thoughts Thursday on Twitter:

A better question is how West's visit to the white matters to the public.

It wasn't news. Lemon's show, isn't news. It brought in viewers to get ratings that lure ad buys. Really no different than Hannity.

Had a foreign delegation visited, that's worthy of national news.

Not a music artist..MTV news should have covered that.

Walker's remarks weren't about West. Walker doesn't say whether he agrees or disagrees with West.

Walker's remarks were directed at the racist statements made by Lemon and his guests. Yeah, what Walker said is true.

And if Hannity -- or anyone at FOX -- made the same remarks re: West on the air, their asses would have been kicked out the door.

Walker is calling out CNN for being the hypocrites they are.

Walker's right about that.

The reason that they are on the news is the low standard of journalism they are held to by CNN.

It's more important that they bring ratings than be unbiased reporters.

#2 - Derogatory racial remarks are simply unacceptable, period. Disrespect another's ethnic background and you will most certainly regret it.

Liberals really need to stop assuming minorities all feel best served by the liberal agenda.

West probably did say sone off the wall things. However, Lemon belittling what he said did not serve anyone. It probably was at least unsettling for a good number of liberals and it offended a lot of conservatives.

I don't agree with taking Don Lemons or any other ultra left Commentator off the air.
